what hood should i get for my 95 camaro? im stuck between the WS6 style ram air hood by US body, or the big block by RKsport. The big block hood is $660, and the WS5 is $550.

Neither, get the ultra z hood. It looks good on LT1 cars! ;) If you have to get one or the other, though, get the big block. I really think the WS6 hood looks stupid on a camaro! :D

Wildcat, I like that Big Block hood found on the same page that you linked to your first post. And it is listed as $399, not the $660 that you found at RKSport.

Definitely something different! would be nice if you could get some positive air flow effect out of it ... do you know whether they have some under-the-hood air flow on the underside? (like on the original SS hood)
Anyway, IMHO, don't get a WS6 style hood ... doesn't fit ...

no, i dont think the bigblock hood(s) are ram air funtional, i think the only purpose they serve are hood space, weight reduction, and looks ;)

o ya, that one for $399 looks like a cheap P.O.S. and ive heard bad things about the line of hoods by american sports car design, inc. (like they dont fit properly and are warped upon delievery :s , and it doesnt even come with that cool peice running down the middle of it like in the picture! :( ). i was only interested in the Rksport big block hood. ya that ultra Z hood looks amazing on a LT1, but i think that ws6 hood looks disgustingly good on the LS1.

I love this color, but it looks so stupid with those fake nostrils. It might be ok if it was actually functional. :)

I too like the look of the ulta-z.

Does anyone know what the quality is like?

Whats the typical HP gain with this functional hood?

Jagsy, the quality is top notch! It is made by SLP, and is guaranteed to fit. Most vendors carry it, along with the SS hood.

hey does anyone actually have that ultra z hood or the big block hood? im not too concerned about the ram air nonsense, im more interested in the extra hood space. its a dream of mine to drop a 383 stroker crate engine into my car next summer!

also, if u guys are concerned about this ram air buisness, my cousin has a ram air box ontop of his carborator that has 2 black tubes that bend down and open up at where the foglights are suppose to be (he took them out, looks amazing ;) ). These intakes are HUGE and he has the factory hood still, it looks completely stealth ;) he also has a 383 stroker drop, completly rebuilt with a shizload of mods and he runs 11.37 (his car is my inspiration!)

Yo Wildcat

Yes, gas (petrol) is VERY expensive here in the UK (£3.36 about $4.90/gal)and no we aren't rich, just crazy.

Being a poorly educated engineer, I sacrifice food and all other nice things just be able to drive that Z28. But seriously, wouldn't you just to have US muscle???

Besides, the car itself doesn't do too bad, I reckon I average 30mpg on a long run. And for those short blasts, who cares!!!

My Z28 is an offical Euro spec, so its not an import. When Chevy was selling these cars in the UK through main dealers, the Z28 was the most HP/£ for a new car onsale in the UK.

So bring on the horses....
