I am so excitited. I ordered a clay bar kit from Mothers. It works so well it is amazing. I got almost every scrach and mar (sp?) out of my paint, not to mention the tar. The car had 11 years of door marks and scraches, it looks like a 1 year old car, and I haven't even waxed yet.
Problem is, that I am not done yet, and I am running out of Clay bar lube. Does anyone know of a place in the local (KMC) area that I can get more Clay bar lube?
I took before pics and will take some after pics. If they turn out, I will post some.
thanks for any help
tom

I said I would post pics when I completed it, and here they are. I am so impressed with the clay bar. I would have never guessed that it would take out parking lot marks, and rich exhaust stains. It took about 8 hours of work, but it was worth every minute.

I got my clay bar kit from:
http://www.autogeek.net/motcalgolcla.html
The kit comes with "just enought" to do a car that hasn't been done in 11 years. I barely had enough. They ship to APO, and it took about 8-10 days.
If anyone has questions, please ask.

Well, on my car (11 years old, 58k ) there was a lot of crap on the paint. The Exhaust marks were horrible. It was a lot of Elbow greese. I saw one recommendation that said you should do it as much as every 6 months. I don't think I would do it that much, but if you were, it would be quite easy. Probably not much harder then Waxing a car.

I always use dish soap and water as a lubricant. It's a waste to buy the brand specific stuff that comes with the bar. You should wash the car with dish soap to begin with to remove all the polish and wax build up, then do the clay bar, then wash again with the dish soap. After this your car is ready for polish and wax.
Your car should feel like it was just waxed after using the clay bar. It's job is to remove all contaminants from the paint.
