OK, I got my Xmas present, Uncle Sam sent my unit back from Iraq early. I took the Trans Am out a few times since the weather is still nice. Now I have a SES light on. Does anybody have a LS1 scanner? I need to know what the code is. I just can't see paying AAFESS $70. Help. Please...............

I have LS1Edit, but it is only programmed for my computer.. I don't even know if it does diagnostics, though.

BTW, Welcome back! ;)

Welcome back! Have you tried disconnecting the neg. battery cable for a minute? The light could be due to the gas sitting in the tank for a long time, especially if it's AAFES gas. Use up all the gas in your tank and fill up at ESSO and see what happens.

Thanks for the "welcome backs". The gas is Super Plus, fresh from the ESSO, and yes I checked the gas cap. If you remember I just had this engine installed not to long before I deployed. That was over a year so no warranty. The local GM will charge me 50 Euro and AAfes $70. I need a scan tool or digagnostic software.

Well the fuse blew to the EGR motor. I took it off and found some chunks of carbon or something. Looks like it'll be fine again<fingers crossed>

My car had the SES light on when i bought it and it was diagnosed as the EGR valve. I cleaned mine but it came back on so I replaced it (£150) and haven't had any problem since. Maybe it's a common problem?
