I'm looking to live on Ramstein but hear there housing is getting redone and I may not get on. I hope I can I don't want to live off base just yet specialy with a newborn on the way.

Living off base isn't bad, you make more money that way but it's all about what you want. I don't recommend you drive your 98 in the winter as you won't get a lot of traction at all, I have a hard time driving my Camaro up small hills when it's raining. Get a beater, there are a lot of them here, just don't let some schmuk try to rip ya. Anyways welcome and you'll love Germany. Busy but a lot to see.

Fly...
I'm affraid I wont beable to get a better cause I'm only aloud two cars ...the TA for me and the wife gets one for her and my son who will be born in Nov... I wish I could get one but I don't see how.

I used to drive my Bird in Dover DE and it wa a challenge but then I am from Illinois and snow driving is fun. I drove it for three yrs in Mildenhall too .....not to say it wont be bad or hard to drive but that why in the winter I carry a snow shovel in the hatch

I would like to live off base but the wife made good points about when we get there we'll be new and having a newborn for the first time .... on base is safer and wiser .... we will look to move maybe next yr.

PreWelcome to Ramstein. There are a bunch of people on here from Ramstein...including myself. You will love driving you bird here. Also, since you are married, you can have 3 cars. I have an 04 Suburban, an 86 mini and have an 01SS on the way from the states.....soon!

If you have any questions about here don't hesitate to ask.

What squadron are you going to?

This did not apply to the last "winter". I was racing my car every month and saw just half a day of snow for the whole winter!

Hey thanks again for the warm welcome it feels good to know I'll have an F-body community to go to again. I miss the days of old when I had my car club in England and we would all just hang out on sat/sunday. I may not be able to come out and play alot in the begieng, like i said I will be a daddy soon with my 1st born but I want to get out as much as possible.

For the Q of which base and squadron. I am heading for Ramstein AB to the 723 AMS. I'm and 11yr Crew Chief and have been AMC my whole carrier, En-rout MX for the last 7. C-5's out of Dover then En-rout Mildenhall and here at Yokota.

Roy...thanks for reminding about this site, like I said I surffed it back in 2002/3 and fell out of the car scene when I moved to HELL....FWD sucks... RWD/AWD or nothing....

If I can have 3cars then hell yea I'll get a better but we'll have to see.

I think you are allowed three cars now. Even if you aren't, you can ask your commander for a waiver. If your car is like a hobby you only drive in the summer, you can probably get it. I have 4 right now.

Hey blkbrd,

I am 723rd E&E. I am assuming you are going back to enroute. Send me a PM with who your sponsor is and let me know which flight you are going to.

Brian
