Well once again the AF forgot I existed and I had to call AFPC and talk to the Functional Manager for my AFSC, but now I have an assignment. I am going to Hurlburt Field, Florida in August. YEAH!!!! I heard there are some 1/8 mile tracks real close to base. Plus thew beach and sunny weather. I know there is a southern Florida F-body club, so hopefully there is a northern one and some good shops around there to get the major work done. Anyone have any info about this area (Fort Walton Beach area)? Well gotta go, just had to tell someone because I was excited! Peace

WOW! YOU ARE SO LUCKY. congrats! I grew up there. Went to high school there and everything. If you need any info about the place just ask. Heck we even got the phone book from there . It's so nice there. I got pictures and a video. Howie and I wanna go back there when we leave this dreadful place. Just think you soon will be driving your SS past white sandy beach and crystal blue water. I'm really jealous right now, but happy for you guys. You will love the place. Again if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.

Forgot to mention. There is a drag strip about a half hour away from F.W.B in Holt. It's an 1/8 mile. It's small, but everybody goes there. They even have jet cars there once in a while. Howie dragged me there almost every weekend. He has videos.

YOU LUCKY F@#KER! I told you you were going to get it. I loved that place. 5 years there and should have never left it. So what did you get AGOS or Red Hourse or mian base? I was there at main base. IF you want I can call my buds that are still there and hook you up with some things like housing, addresses, phone numbers. You are right the 1/8 mile track is a 30 min drive up toward crestview(crestucky, as we call it). Just north of I-10. Camaros are strong but the mustang f@gs are trying to take over. You know they go out and buy a rustang and put a $100.00 dollars down extra for the attitude. Enjoy, I will talk to you later at work.
Later dude

When were you there? I was there from '94 to '99. You might remember my car '73 yellow camaro w/ 2 1/2 cowl hood, skinnies in front and 10.5 in the rear. Running 8.90's.

Dang hotrod, i didn't know that was you. I think i have you on video a few times at Holt. My wife grew up there and I was there 1995-2000. Small military world we live in huh?
Tracy, you'll love it there. I have absolutly nothing bad to say about that place. TDY's all year round, depending on your job and what-not but if you do go away for awhile, your family will have PLENTY to do. You gonna be here for the Fest of Speed?

HEY!! I resemble that remark!
Have fun, and I'm envious, that is drag racing central along the east coast.
Just for giggles go down to daytona when they do the WFC runs and talk smack to the Fords. HEH

Dang, didn't think I would get this many responces! Me and the wife are very happy. Her sister is there (husband was in AF and got out while they were there). My wife loves the beach and I love warm weather and racing, so it should work out pretty good as long as I don't loose my license. I've been in Germany for 8 years and have lost the sense of speed. I don't even notice I am driving fast until I get over triple digits. Maybe I should sell the Camaro and get a Geo.......NOT!!!
HotRod - I didn't ask what the gaining squadron was. My rip should be here before the end of next week and I will know more then.
Mila - you or Howie shoot me your phone # if you don't mind and I'll have my wife call ya. I'm sure you two could talk for hours about Florida and pregnancy/babies. Today is my wifes last day of work, so she will be free to do what ever from now on.
Gotta run for now. Thanx for all of the responces. Peace

I am jealous, I am jealous, I am jealous...
want to move to Florida - why can't Germany be right next to it
You propably will see me there every time I go on vacation.
(October)
BTW... Rick is from Crestview also.

I might be here depending on the date in August, but my car won't be here. My car won't be here for the July OSL race either. I am shipping it as soon as I get my orders, so it will be there when I get there. Saves on a rental car. I can pimp around here in my wifes Barbie car (Toyota Rav 4), which some airman from CE was nice enough to modify for us yesterday with his GOV. It's not even safe to be parked on this base anymore. Peace

You lucky dog. You will love Hurlburt. Have you heard about the big cruise they have on the Mississippi Gulf Coast every year. I think it is in early October. It lasts for 3 or 4 days and they have several events in several different towns. It isn't that far from FWB. Here is the URL

Chickenkiller,
Sorry to ruffle your feathers. Those guys down there are like a bunch of nats flying around piping every one. You swat theem down with little can of GM grade horse power and they always come back for some more. They will never learn. Krazy, get used to the annoying rustangs.
Howiez28,
I would love to see that video if you still have it. Did you have the Z down there? Where did you work? Hurlburt or Eglin?

Hotrod,
Howie was at Eglin. Hey did your yellow camaro have stickers on the side? Howie is going through the videos right now and so far found a yellow camaro with the cowl hood, stickers down the side running 7.4.

No that would not be me. I ran in the 9.0's to 8.90's. It depended on the time of the day and how many times I ran back to back. I kept it clean, no sticker power.

Thanx for all of the replies. I appologize for taking so long to respond back. Just been overwhelmed at work lately. It's like they expect me to earn my pay check or something, Geez! Any how, I found out which squadron I was going to and if the person I talked to is right I will be working on ATVs and boat motors for our special forces trainee's. Such a tuff life we live some times. I hope it is true, since I grew up working on and riding dirt bikes. It would be a nice break from fixing VW transporters for a living. Well, I will know more as the time passes and when I get a sponsor package. Later
