V6 trannies have fewer clutches. They will work, but are not as "strong" as the V8s. I'm not sure if the bellhousings are the same. I do know of someone who took the 5-speed from a 3.8 and put it behind his LT1. Don't know if this helps...

Hey madmav If I were you I would get it built in the states with all the bell and whistles. A stock rebuild is not going to last behind that engine of yours. I am haveing my 4l60e rebuilt in my truck and it is costing me 1200 dollars. You can buy a factory reman from Advance auto for 1300 dollars. But I would take it to a shop in the states and get stronger clutches and bands put in it. Because if you dont you will be rebuilding it again. You have went all out on your engine I would not go half ass on your tranny just to have it break and not be able to play with that bad ass engine. I would not let your tranny be your weakest link.

Oh, I'm going all out. Everything that can be upgraded will be. The labor is the only thing i'm doing here. The parts will come from the states. But you are right, no use shortchanging the tranny!

Thanks,
Mav
