I found that 'up against the wall' works out the upper body rather well. That also works well in the shower. Nothing better than muscle failure. There are "work out" tapes that go into pretty good detail on the subject. Good luck next time Jack.

As far as TDY's go, it depends on your job and where you are. I have been in almost six years and haven't been deployed yet. I have only been on 3 TDY's but only for school. And those were within the last year.

I was complaining when they wanted to do PT once a week for us. That didn't last long though. As for TDY, What's that? I have been to 2 schools and the desert once in the last 7 1/2 years.

I don't know man, I mean the Army thinks the older you get, the more push-ups you can do. I just don't know how to call it anymore.

Well, the ruck run, works the NCO bragging rights muscle. Like a 'look what my troops can do'. It's just eye cheeze. I think it is duh-um, and if you want your soldiers to f-up their knees, take a 10 lbs sledge to them.

If you wanna ruck, then ruck. Don't fake the funk with PT's and shoes on. It's eye cheeze, that's it. You don't think so?

OH yeah, we did it in PTs, but with boots on!! Not quite hardcore, but pretty damn close. Plus, we had a platoon log that weighed about 30-40 lbs, and we each had to carry it a short distance!!!

1sg in korea who made his soldiers run with a 10pnd pet rock instead of a guidon. As far as the ruck runs go I spent 5yrs at bragg and it does give you a case of the sore knees. I know I have had many crackle and pop mornings.
