How many of you drive your cars in the winter? What tires do you use? I will need my car this winter, but fear the power/rear wheel drive and snow will not mix very well. Is there a really good snow tire that will help? Just looking for anyone with experiance driving these things in the snow. |

I have driven mine last winter and my V6 the first winter I was here. I did not have many problems. Just have a good set of tires with tread. Any will do, and take it slow.. Do not accelerate fast and try not to stop just keep a steady forward momentum.. |

Like George said, as long as you have tread, you will be ok. Winters are fairly mild here, so as long as you drive both cautiously and defensively, you should be ok... If you can afford it, though, get a second set of cheap wheels, and use them for Winter... |

I drive mine only on the nice days. And since it's not running i really don't have to worry about it this winter. Since my home state is Massachusetts I think I can help you out with your quest for traction. George had a lot of good points no sudden moves (gas, breaking or steering). To gain more traction your best bet would be to buy brand new tires, or make sure your tires are in almost new condition so they can tread the snow. Put a couple hundred pounds in the trunk over the axle that would be directly behind the rear seats but not in the t-top hole. The biggest problems f-bodys have is an extremely heavy front end and a really light back end. Your rear wheels have no weight to plant them to the ground. |

Cool, Thanx for all of the suggestions. I grew up in up-state New York (ever hear of lake effect snow). I now how to drive in the snow, I was just wondering about tires and pointers for this type of car. I am going to try and only drive it when the roads are clear, which is most of the time here. Just never know when I might be at work when it starts to snow. |

To take away the stresses of driving a nice expensive car in the winter I bought a beater car. You really can't go wrong buying an xtra car there dirt cheap. And if you slide off the road and hit a tree as long as your alright it's not that great of a loss versus losing your nice car. You no how the insurace companys work if you put a little xtra into your car there only going to give money for stock replacement. |

I´ve got a set of Pirelli Snowsport 210 - great tires! Almost no slipping, "driving noise" or higher fuel consumption. In my opinion the best winter tires you can get - but fxxxing expensive... I´m student and simply can´t afford a second car ![]() |

Yeah, I like the idea of a beater, but my wife wouold kill me if I buy a third car. I sold the Honda to cut our car payment and now I ran out and bought a 97 SS which she isn't very happy about as it is. I think I will just try to avoid driving it when it snows. or I will have to drive very slowly. |

You will have no other choice. It took me one day last year 30 minutes to drive a normal 10 minute drive. You remember that day it snowed right before lunch? By the way that was from Spang to Gindorf (about 6 klicks). |

I drove mine everyday from Babenhausen to Hanau (25 miles)(about 15 on the Autobahn) even in the snow. I had Firehawk SZ-50s and they worked great. Ditto on what G said about stopping though!!! |
