Post subject:  ISDN HELP!!!!!!!!
I just got my ISDN boxes in the mail today. I have no idea how to set them up. I plugged them together and had no dial tone. When you guys got yours did it come with english or german mine came with german. Any help as to how to get this thing to work would be great.

OK, from the beginning - what exactly did you order, and what kind of box_es_ did you get? Usually, ISDN itself is only one box, the so-called NTBA. You may have ordered T-DSL, which would mean you might have received a splitter, and NTBA and a DSL modem. Or, you might have received both an NTBA and PBX ...

Appreciate the reply.

I ordered the ISDN service with the 3 phone lines (phone,internet,fax) The black box is for three phone lines. Then I got a white Box that says ISDN on it so I'm assuming computer but my problem is what plugs into what and how.

does it go [wall-isdn box-3way splitter box-computer] or does it go in a different order. Even if I get the order right I'm not sure how to turn it all on.

OK, the one that (probably) has two RJ45 female plugs (like used for network cabling) on the bottom is the so-called NTBA. This is the actual piece that converts the 2-line Uk0 net-side protocol to the ISDN protocol used locally. What kind of plug thing do you have on the wall? A three-way analog, or a two-way ISDN (again, RJ45)? If you have the analog and the line is still live (with the analog modem/telephone), you will have to contact Telekom now that you have the equipement and tell them when to switch your line to ISDN (make sure you have a mobile phone in case anything goes wrong :)). Once they do (you can easily check that - if you don't get a dial tone on your analog phone, it's changed over to ISDN :)), plug the ISDN NTBA with the supplied cable into the center receptacle (plug should only fit there). There may or may not be a green light that turns on once you do...
Now, once you are that far, use the (hopefully) supplied ISDN cable (RJ45 on both sides, probably only center 4 cables used) to connect the NTBA on one of the two RJ45 receptacles to the PBX or A/B-converter ... from there, you should be able to use any analog device like modem, fax or telephone ...

Good info Garry. That definatly helped me out alot. ? The 3 way phone converter has USB connections also should I use the USB connections or not? And if I do use them will I still need to use the modem? Thanks for the help

Hm ... do you have something like a "Teledat" or so? That's a small PBX with an integrated ISDN card IIRC ... it should come with a CD with Windows drivers ... if it does, you may not need the modem anymore ... you should then be able to use the PBX as an ISDN card so to speak ... say hello to 7.5k/s transfer rate ... :)

hey I did what you said I installed the software with the teledat program. the only thing that happens is nothing it's not making a connection. On the teladet x120 phone line box the PC/daten light stays on but the T-ISDN light flashes. On the White ISDN box that plugs into the wall it looks like it has a light on it if there is it's not working. Is this a plug and play operation? Thanks for the help

Does your old analog phone/modem still work when connected directly to the phone line instead of the ISDN hardware? If it does, the ISDN stuff cannot work ... call Telekom to have it changed (better not make that call on a Friday, or you might end up without phone the whole weekend :))
