I am new to this club and would like to find out what I am up against next summer. What kinda car and what mods are you guys/girls running? Be specific please. Don't just say headers, tell me what kinda headers. That way I will know who to ask questions about that product if I choose to buy it myself. I am basically just wondering what you have all done to your cars and if you did something and thought it was a waste of money then tell me that too. Thanx :p

I will start it off:

97 SS (#2650)
Removed MAF Screen
Holley power shot air filter
PRO 5.0 shifter (sitting under x-mas tree)
March under drive pulley kit (in the mail somewhere)
STAR Spec stage 3 kevlar clutch (in the mail somewhere)

That's all for now. Peace

Hey, what happened to the subject? I know I typed "What are all of you running for mods?" Why did it change? Now it looks like I need to order Hooked on Phonics.

OK I changed the oil 10X and cut 2 1/2 inches of the shifter with a hacksaw. I also had to change the back tires I guess it was fair wear and tear. LOL

I have mods but the car doesn't run so i guess there pretty useless. If you want to do good mod to ensure your engine stays running. Upgrade the oil pump to a high flow high volume unit with the PICK UP LINE WELDED. Take this one from me I know first hand KABOOOOOOOOOOOM.

Yes I am waiting If everything goes as planned I will replace the stock engine for a bullet proof stock setup. Meaning all pieces were stock at some point.

Krazy

Its fairly safe to say that if you are looking at something specific, one of us here has had it at some point. The absolute best thing you can do, is learn to drive the car as close to 10/10th's as consistently as you can.
It is amazing what most pony cars can do stock, when they are used to the fullest. (can you say LT1's in stock eliminator class running deep 10's?)

Try to compare apples to apples also. ****NOTICE, ONLY MY WORTHLESS OPINION, so TURN OFF YOUR FLAMETHROWERS****

A LS1 driver can afford to be less of a driver because his cars baseline performance tends to be higher than a LT1's. Thats why I personally would avoid lessons learned from other people who dont have a similiar auto. Address the LT1's weakness(high rpm breathing) but capitalize on the strength(torque curve like Kansas). Bust 'em up out the hole and make 'em prove the 3rd gear charge. A chase doesnt make a good race, and they will need every last one of those 40 or so bonus HP's.

With that said, look at your suspension long and hard before you spend 3 or more digits on some fancy widget promising 10hp.

I cannot agree with that more.... I also must say that when you come out to play, you are doing just that. If you are scared of the 40hp or the 3rd gear charge, mod and mod some more... This way whenever you come up against a superior preformance vehicle, you will know that you have what is needed to compete....

On a side note, what Rob said with the suspension is true. I have way more power than I should have right now on my suspension/tire combo.. I took the power, power approach and now I am needing to bring the traction, traction, traction up to par..........

I can tell you this, no matter what you do to your car, as long as you are happy, that is all that matters.... You are the one who has to drive it... You are the one who celebrates victory and the one who suffers defeat.....:)

I'm still stock, internally that is. I have some suspension stuff, lid, K&N, MAF ends, and then some appearance mods.

And need to learn to get the hole shot.

You saw how it was. You got the hole shot, yet my car pulled on you pretty hard. My clutch is bad also. So you can see the difference between a pretty much stock LS1 over a pretty much stock LT1.

Some how I must have put out the wrong idea again. I didn't know everyone was so secretive about their cars. I just thought it would be interesting to see what you all have done to your cars. Sorry for asking.

I do apprieciate the honest responces and the info on the suspension, I was already working that little problem. That is why I have been asking about tires and gears. Trying to get you out of the hole and make you play catch up. Later :)

Some of these people like to sandbag. I have no idea why in this case. If we were street racers or always racing for money, maybe. I don't keep secrets.

97 formula ws6
mods will be:
383 stroker 11:1 compression
ported/polished heads
ported intake w/ 58 mm throttle body
SPEC stage III clutch
LCA's, panhard rod, strut tower brace
BBK shorty headers w/ stock intermediate pipe & flowmaster muffler

I believe that's it ;)
