Post subject: | Car down bad clutch |
Probably won't be out there on the 16th. On the way in to work today. I noticed that my Rpms were moving but the car was not accelerating. So when I got to work I pulled the e brake through it in 6th and let off on the clutch and gave it gas. Needless to say the car still ran with the clutch 100% engaged. So I figure tommorow I'll drop the trans and see how bad it is (that is if I make it home). Key word make it home. All I can say is thank god the beater is up and running. I figure this is a good thing now I can convince the wife to let me get the clutch I really want. Or she'll say no and I'll save lots of miles. |

I hope it makes it home. There will be nothing worse than getting off 24hr staff duty to walk about 35miles home. And knowing germany it will be raining. |

I want a clutch that can handle a good bit of power. I'm going to pull my engine in a few months and rebuild it (all forged and other goodies) so I want a clutch that can handle the power and won't fry. I might just put it in the garage until I find or buy an engine puller. Thats the only tool I'm waiting on right now. Any clutch recomendations |

Ryan Factory clutches are dirt cheap. You can buy three complete factory kits (flywheel, disk, and pressure plate ) for the price of one aftermarket . Just food for thought Also Gm sells a Gm Speced Centerforce for Lt1's also. |

Hopfully by this time next year after I rebuild my engine and ad a little something to it. A factory clutch won't be able to handle the power. |

John was telling me about one clutch not sure what it is but he said it's really good. For $800.00 it should be. I just don't want to replace another one after the rebuild. You know how some clutches are weak. I want one that is rated over 600hp. |

Street twin by Mcleod. Will handle 1200rwhp. But for a cool 950.00 w/ steel fly or 1200 w/ alum fly. If you want more details holla at me. Sorry about the clutch too. |

Some of the million hp clutches arent worth a chit on the street. But I guess if you have 500 RWHP that probably isnt too streetable anyway, you probably wouldnt notice a grabby clutch. I'm split between STAR and Mcleod. Not much pricier than center farce or Ram or -insert clutch-, because you do get a flywheel my .02 |

Have a centerforce. Ain't that great. Read about it in GM High Tech Performance on the turbo install. They say with the horsepower there is alot of slip in 3rd and 4th gear. Dave. |
