The other day when I did my intake gasket repair....My landlords brother stopped by. He speaks pretty good english and has been to America a few times. He was asking me about my car. I found it kinda humorus and thought I would share it with you all.
Him "Is there anything broken?"
Me "No, just doing regular maintenance"
Him "Nice car"
Me "Thanx"
Him "What year is it?"
Me "97"
Him "Oh (look of disappointment)"
Him "How many miles?"
Me "16,000"
Him " Oh, that's low!"
Me "yep"
Him "How many HP?"
Me "305"
Him "That is a lot!!!"
Me "not to bad"
Him "Why do Americans need 305 HP? The last time I went to America the max speed was 65 mph!"
Me "We like to get to 65 mph as fast as we can! "
Him " are those winter tires?
Me "hell Yeah"
Him "What are your summer tires?"
Me " Come in here and I will show you"
Him "Nice, they look really good, are they 245?"
Me "No, they are 275/40R17"
Him "Damn(insert German equivelant), that is like Shumaucer!!!"(sorry to misspell his name)
Me "I wouldn't go that far."
Him "It must be good in the corners"
Me "Not really, it is made more for straight line speed"

Needless to say I think he was quite impressed with the car. Just bored and thought I would share this with you all. Have you had any discussions with the locals that were amusing? Peace

Not really that amusing, but most of them are surprised when they see how wide the tires are, and how many hapees these cars have!!

Doesn't that just suck! Whenever you go out to work on your car, polishing the exhaust manifold nuts and so on, the neighbours ALWAYS say "Problems?". They must hate it that there's never anything wrong with it and some of us polish under the bonnet more often than they polish their car. And let's have a bullet for the man who, when washing your car, offers the traditional "You can do mine next!" as if we'd never heard it before.

I had to change exhaust systems cause I kept getting cussed at by my German neighbors and had the polizei called on me all because of the good old Flowmaster. But it was fun cruising through the little towns with the accompaning tune of the V8 exhaust. Seems everyone looks, especially the younger people.

But I've had a few German babes make several kind remarks about the car. Especially after a ride in it:D

Yeah, I constantly get that were ever I live. My neighbors and even people in the local area say things to me all of the time like...Man if I had to work on my car as much as you do yours, I would just go buy a different car. I tell them it's not broke, I'm just tinkering around or making something better, but they just give me that blank stare. They just don't get it. My neighbors use to tell me that my exhaust would wake them up in the morning when I had my Mustang. I try to be curtious and not rev it up in the mornings, so they have never called the cops on me, at least I don't think they have My neighbors are my landlords parents, so they just deal with it or he can kick me out, but they seem to like us.
