I took a good look at a 94 Camaro in the shop yesterday while one of the other mechanics was workin on it. I'm kinda impressed, it's too bad they won't be makin' anymore after this year. I frickin' love that nasty 5.7L. This is the light green/blueish one here on Ramstein. The LOUD one that you can hear from the flightline to the housing area when a C-5 is taking off.
Dude??? are you on this board?

It's still down at the shop in the parking lot drive by sometime this weekend. I'm not 100% about the year of it. But it does have the fonky opti-spark doo-flappy under the water pump. Isn't that like 92-94 ??

If it has Borla exhaust thats Ray. Actually the car is blue. But there is a greenish looking one that I saw a yr back or so and tried to follow him but he went to a secure area on base and couldn't proceed. That thing was loud! Never saw the car again so I assumed he left or didn't live around here. Stk wheels and something done to the suspension and that's what caught my attention.

Silas you are right it was a guy named Ray and I'm frickin color blind yes it is light blue in color and has Borlas out back. I think Brian (Dodge bonehead but good mechanic) said dude needs a new opti as you guys call it. I think dude is already informed about this board anyway.

be careful diagnosing the opti, that is what everybody says about every problem they have with the car. These arent cheap, and its just as easy/cheap to upgrade the car as replace the parts. Not saying it isnt the opti, they tend to crap. But its also the easy diagnosis

Well I drove his car to try and diagnose it for him. I couldn't get the symptoms he was getting like sputtering in the upper rpm range. Never got the car up to op temp either plus I didn't want to take it off base. Just drove it around the base it self. Felt fine to me and ran pretty strong. No hiccups. BUT there was a audible tick coming from the passenger side of the block. It didn't sound like rockers either. But the tick was coming out the exhaust too in syn w/ the engine. I didn't know what to tell him.

I didn't troubleshoot it dude. Another guy did. Hell, I didn't even hear it running when it was in the shop. I was on the other side (on a larger lift) changing out some bigass suspension parts on a Tahoe and aligning it.
The other mechanic gets irritated with me when I ask about cars he's worked on or working on. This case was no different. He's kinda antisocial at times but he's still my huckleberry.
What do you mean just as cheap/easy to upgrade the car as replace the parts? you mean an upgraded opti? or buying a Mustang?

Yo dude, You literally live around the corner from me. I've been listening to that sweet 5.7L song down my street and accross base and halfway to Saarbrucken, ever since I moved to Germany. You may have seen me pickin up my little girl from the Parrish's (in your building)
Glad you found the board. You should hang out here dude. There's a good bunch here. Good knowledge base for when you may have problems, like now.
Every now and then I kinda sorta remotely want to own a Firechicken or a Crumaro. But then I let my right foot relax a little whilst traveling A6 and all those twisted and dark feelings fade into a mere glimpse of a of a thought I once had long long ago. LOL I kill me!!!
Good bunch here. I'm trying to get ol' Silas to get'em to change the name to "American Iron" or maybe "U.S.Gear Jammers" or something that would include me!! legally that is. I just feel like the redheaded stepchild here.

Yeah, I've noticed your ride...I have to drive past it EVERY time I come home! Me and Mike (a FBE member who PCS'd about a year ago) used to stop and take a gander at that monster every now and then. There's been a few times when I've heard you start her up outside my building, and I'd run to the bedroom window to see who it was.
I've actually been a part-time member of FBE since the beginning, just never really joined the forum...and the Z is my only vehicle with a wife and two kids (hard core camaro lover ) so it made mods and meets kinda tuff. BUT, i just reenlisted at an SRB of 6, so I'm gonna use that scratch to buy the wife her BMW(get her off my back )...and then its ON! So, I should be around a lot more in the future. I've ordered that opti so it should be comin in soon, hopefully that fixes me right up and gets me back on the road! Thx for the warm welcome! (Even though you are a Mustang owner ) Don't do it Silas!!!!! LOL
