Ramstein.....failed! Kapaun? Not even. I was there watching a tricked out Civic fail.....for stickers! No lie and not to make a joke either. After that I just rolled out. This is ridiculous. My biggest thing is I can't get on the pit because the damn y-pipe is sayin "nonono!" So since they can't get underneath I get snagged.

My last resort is Mannheim if it doesn't work I'll be turning plates in 23 days and calling it quits. She'll be shipped immediately back to the states because I'm tired of the B.S. There are tons of cars and bikes louder than me. There's a Green Gremlin or Maverick that lives down the street and he literally shakes the dishes in my kitchen. I'm gonna flag him down and see who the hell he knows. He works in the hobby shop at that at Pulaski.

Oh well that's my vent but if any of you know a spot that's sure proof please let me know. Don't care about distance I just want my registration w/ a STAMP on it!

hey dude there have been some problems about guys getting in accidents and they would say that "the inspector said the car was safe". That might be why the inspector is not giving any leeway or slack whatsoever.Something about being stabbed in the back will change one's attitude.

Here in Vilseck it's just as bad. I go to Grafenwoehr for my vehicle inspection needs, but first I suggest a complimentary TUV or a dealer inspection and get it in writing.

TUV? No way in hell will I pass. 396 cubes of gas wreaking havoc! I'm just gonna try my luck in Mannheim this morning since I'm up this early anyways.

What do you mean they are not safe?

Thanks Sven

Dude I go to mannhiem and I pass all the time! FOr the noise take a bunch of steel wool and cram it up in your tail pipes far enough that they cant see it. It will quiet down your exhaust alot. The first time you get on the gas it will blow right out.

Can you borrow some tires that are taller than you tires? It should lift your car up enough to get over a pit.

Keep us posted.

Well with it capped off I think I should be ok. It's not that loud. But Jeff what kind of pit do they have? If it's a flat one I'm good but if it's the one that has rails on both sides and a cement hump upon entry I'm screwed. That's what I need to know for sure. Was gonna drive down there today just to see what kind of pit it is 1st, then take my car down later in the wk for inspection.

If ya could Jeff just answer those questions for me I'd appreciate it. Also do they drive your car down there too and are they German or US inspectors?

If that fails then I'll be putting on my coilovers this wkend anyways so it won't matter. I'll be lifting her a good inch or 3/4's. That'll give me clearance for sure.

Silas, just borrow some higher tires to lift your car up, as Jeff suggested.
That worked for me years ago, even on German TÜV. They were not allowed on the car but I told them it is for inspection only, had the other set with me and had to swap them right there before driving off and they gave me the stamp.

If everything fails, let your wife take the car through
inspection with the miniskirt and a sexy top...
did that with the farm traktor, passed even the brakes did not work!

If it has rails take some planks to lay down and drive on.

They said no altering the pits. I tried that one already! Bastards! Anyone have some 17" snow tires? eh..eh:)

It's ok once the coilovers are on this wkend I'll have plenty clearance.

John, they said they "think" the rail on the side of the pit is 7cm. What do you think?

John has maybe 2cm clearance right now!!

Well I tried again today w/ no luck. The bottom y-pipe got caught and snagged my V-clamp bolt right off! Good thing I have another sitting on standby. So today I'm raising it 4" all around monster truck style for tomorrow. The German guy was nice too which was scary he tried lifting the front end so it would clear the pit so he could inspect.

After that debacle my A-arms started tripping and now I have clunk sound that is very audible and very embarrasing the cubes couldn't even drown them out. No noise side to side but north to south even on flat surfaces cca clunk! WTF?! So I'll be looking at that too tonight.

Fixed all my exhaust problems too so she doesn't flex no where and the cabin is very quiet w/ no rattles. Almost felt like a new car. Motor mounts are next to help even further the cause.

Just thought I put an update to my dilemas.....:)

Sorry about your problems, John.. It's reassuring, though, to know that other people have problems, too!!!! ;)
