It's astonishing in this day and age that most US suppliers seem incapable of exporting goods outside the US. I've been trying to spend about $1000 on suspension stuff in addition to a Bilstein BTS suspension kit that's on the way (slowly it would appear)but as for the bits I want, I have contacted LM Performance (e-mails fizzled out but suggested air freight was the way to go!), LS1Speed (kept telling me carriage would not be inexpensive but couldn't put a figure on it)and countless others who just don't reply because they obviously don't want to know.
I can get all the parts from BMR without too much difficulty but they're not the parts I want. I guess they don't need my business.

The suspension parts from BMR I got are pretty good ... don't know what parts you're looking for, but ...

I think we in England just have to be patient and keep pushing the Suppliers. They have such in big market in the US do they really need us?
Stealth Performance were exceptionally helpful when I ordered the BMR parts, even better than BMR themselves.
Sam Strano has also been exceptionally helpful with no problems regarding shipping to the UK. The only problem with my order from Sam has been the delay in shocks from Bilstein.

Thing is when you tap in half a dozen items, including a torque arm and sway bars, the BMR website throws up carriage of $280. Very reasonable. Some of these other suppliers are quoting $300 carriage on just sway bars so I have to get all the parts from a single supplier to cut down the carriage costs. Naturally, when I say "quoting", I mean not doing anything about it thereafter....he he.

Well, the sway bars alone are pretty big and heavy - I got them, so I know ...
Do you know anybody who you could get it through APO? AFAIK, BMR sends to APO ...

Maybe someday the military will realize that people DO need think sent to them bigger than 130 inches combined width and girth and that weighs more than 70 pounds. (I.E. hoods, engine blocks, Axles, etc.)
Is it really that much trouble to get a contract with Fed EX or UPS to serve the GI's.

if you know the weight, you can alwasy go to http://www.usps.com and get shipping rates. If all else fails, as long as you pay the shipping, you can have it shipped to me here in the us and I can send it back out to the UK. If you want it shipped cheaper, you can surface mail it. Takes a month or so though.
Drop me an e-mail if interested.

Thumbs up to BMR for an excellent website that gives clear prices and instant shipping costs. I had to go with all BMR stuff in the end - sway bars, chrome-moly LCA's and Adj. panhard bar, relocation brackets and SFC's plus a throttle-body bypass kit for that 0.7hp gain that should put me into the 11's (hmm....). Gold star for Fast Toys who were swift in response but overall, because they ship direct from various manufacturers, couldn't compete on the overall shipping costs (250 dollars for just a Panhard bar and LCA's vs around 300 dollars total for all the BMR stuff). Sometimes, ya gotta get real! When they arrive, I can fit the Bilstein springs and shocks and eliminate the jigglyflex for good.

Same Problem, most of the suppliers we tried to order do not ship outside the US, lots of them do not even ship to APO's outside the US. They got to realize that they miss out on a growing market.
Occasionally we had to ask a trusted person to pick up the part and ship. But of course nobody wants to take advantage of family and friends more often than necessary.
So DA's offer has diamond value...
just hope you do not get stuck with somebodys shipping costs.

I have given up dealing with this situation a long time ago.
and recent world events /// 9-11(sept 11th) /// have only made it worse.
the APO no longer handles big articles. I would not risk sending any thing larger than the size of a loaf of bread.
and there is german customs, which may hold your shipment until they recieve proper customs paperwork.
your shipment usually will go through different carriers who work independently even if they have the same company name and no one agency can guarantee that you will get the shipment. there is one way that i know
I sent a motorcycle air freight and I picked it up from the airport after clearing customs
I worked with the agent before the bike was prepped for flight in Maryland and I was at the airport in Franfurt when the plane brought the motorcycle in.
