Just wondering if anyone on the board is in the 81st Fighter Squad. at Spangdalem. I haven't recieved a sponsor package yet and I PCS in 2 months. Is it a good place to work, or should I bring plenty o' vasoline? To tell you the truth, I am looking forward to getting my hands dirty. Working Trans. Alert isn't exactly demanding. Anyway, I hope somebody can help out with some info. Thanks!:-burnout:

Have you contacted your unit yet to find out who your sponsor is and maybe talk to them about what you need or want. Our sponsor didn't get us anything until about 3 weeks before we left the States. Our son is on his way over on the 15th Oct to Spangdalem and he just recieved a few things from his sponsor the other day. Jerry had to send him the drivers manual and things so he could start to study for his test. When Nick gets here we can find out what he was given and I can forward it to you if you would like. I can't see why you wouldn't love Germany, the people are great and there is always something to do here. The Fbody club is like a big family, doing and helping each other, so you will always have family here. Good luck with your transfer and let me know if there is anything we can help you with.

Linda

Congrats on Tech! What's your line number? Mines 7262. Or something around there I forget. Long as we got it that's all that matters.

Yo dude, I'm at Spang. Don't be surprised if you don't get a sponsor package. It's one of those things that gets forgotten about here. I work CE, but I know some people from from all three fighter squadrons. The people I know are SrA and Staff. Met them in ALS. They are crew chiefs and one works phase (not sure if thats the same job). They work 12s. The base as a whole sucks a fat nut sometimes. But if you get away from the base it's great. The club is a good way to do that.

Yup there is a driver test. A european driver safety course. I don't know of online way to study. It's not that hard.

You can find the test here! The main thing is to learn the right before left rule. Right has the priority.. Focus on that and the signs.. Those are the two items that fail most people! ;)

So you are going to be in CE. Our son is getting here Tuesday and he will be in CE. This is his first assignment out of tech school. Yes, there is a written test for your driver's license and it is tough. I don't know now, but when we got to Ramstein last year, the first time fail rate on the test was running 60-70%. I highly recommend you study. Just reading it through once won't be enough. There are actually two tests. The first one is the test on the signs. If you flunk it, you don't get to take the other one that day. The written test is 100 questions if I remember correctly. I think passing on both of them is 80% but I could be wrong on that. Know your signs. There are all of the signs in the study guide and you will see most of them. On the written test, make sure you understand the right of way rules and study all of the diagrams in the study guide. Most of them will be on the written test. A word of caution, in some of the diagrams, there is a small sign that will be the determining factor in who has the right of way. Good luck. If you need anything, please contact us.

Oops, sorry about that. I was thinking you were going to CE but it was Fbody97 who is in CE. Dave, my son will be arriving on the 15th of Oct. We are picking him up in Frankfurt and bringing him up there. He will be working in P&E. I'm sure you will meet him before too long. Anyway, sorry about that. When you start getting old, one of the first things to go is your mind and I can't remember what is next.

Hey Jaz, my son's name is Nick Montgomery. I just got off the phone with him and he is looking forward to getting over here and start working... He has been in limbo since tech school and is ready to get to work...
We were talking about getting him a f-body when he gets here so he is getting excited about that, maybe with a bit of luck he will forget about getting a motorcycle which will please me to no end ha ha...
He is looking forward to joining the board when he gets here and meeting everyone... Thanks and I will give him your name.
And if there is anything you need before you get here feel free to ask...Looking forward to meeting you.

Linda

P&E huh... yeah tell him to get ready to work. Those guys are always complaining about how much more they work than everyone else. I know most of the shop. Most of them are cool. Comming from tech school he will be in the dorms. I'll try to help out whenever I can but I don't have a licence anymore. Later

He has to help buy it, at least if we can get his money tied up into an fbody he won't have any to buy a motorcycle and mom and dad will be able to sleep nights ha ha... He also got in touch with some friends of his from Michigan that have an independant auto parts store and they said that they could send parts over here for anyone that needs them... They are good at getting the hard to find parts, they found parts for our Monza when no one else could get them so keep that in mind if anyone needs anything...

Thanks Dave, I gave him your message and he is looking forward to meeting you... Hard work will do him some good, he said that he couldn't wait to get to work as he is so bored, well maybe that will take some of the boredom away ha ha.. While you can't drive if you want to attend anything from the club let us know as we will be picking Nick up until he is able to drive and then he will have our BMW until he finds a car so just let us know...
Thanks again Dave...

Linda
