I am hearing now that the 8.8 is probably better, or just as good as the 9". Is this true? If so, this would be a much cheaper route.

I doubt it dude. Sure, you cant swing a dead cat without hitting a 87-02 GT, but cheaper? Reason I think this, is not very scientific, but if it were cheaper/easier you'd see it or hear about it, instead of the 9" or 12" ones.

Strength wise if you already had a 8.8 (course you wouldnt have a Fbody then) there would be zero reason to upgrade. But if your gonna do it, I guess people assumed you would want to do it overkill so the 9" kits and 12bolts rose to the front

How much cheaper? will you still have piece of mind I have done worry free 4800RPM launches with street ET's Do not think I will break that 9". If I ever get serious I could get another 3rd member set up with some 4.56 or something for a little nothing and change them out in a couple hrs. just my .02 cents

The only problem I see with it right now, is the only ones that can do this are people that are in close with a fabricator. The suspension pickup points and axle width's among other things have to be included on it before people like you or I can buy them.

Now if a company like currie or strange were to step up and do it, I'm not sure it would be any cheaper than a 9". Would be cool if they could release something like this for about 1500 though!!!

Hawk, anything you can throw at it, that 8.8 will shrug off. It is a really stout piece. Only thing that is a negative, Roy eluded to. The C clips. If you run 10.99 or faster that axles have to be attached, ie no c clips

I have heard it is pretty strong. I went with the 9" because I could not afford to figure it out. Gotta be reliable and strong and a bolt in package nothing more frustrating than getting a wrong piece in the mail.

I'm just looking at the cost difference. $1500 installed, or $3000 plus installation.. Hmmmmmmm.

You can get a 9" cheaper I did the upgrades axels case brakes with rotors and so on. you could get it for $2000.
