Well, first my replacement has to leave early, because his son needed emergency surgery. I can understand that completely. But now, instead of turning in the paperwork to get my new replacement his orders on time, it just sits around, waiting for someone to turn it in. Well, I'm sick of not being informed, so I call my Platoon sergeant today, because I found out from the operations sergeant (AFTER HAVING TO ASK) that my new rep. is not going to be here on Friday, because they don't have his orders yet. He told me he would call the 1st sergeant, and the 1SG found out in a matter of minutes what the deal was, so my platoon sergeant tells me and I'm like well I'm glad someone was planning to tell me this crap before I was scheduled to leave, and he's like sorry, I wish I would have known. I was like yeah, I wish you would have too. As you can tell, I hate f\/cked up units who don't take care of soldiers. This happens to be one of them, unfortunately. I think the Army can be OK sometimes, but I don't care what anyone says, the Army really does not care about families. If they did, "they would issue them!"

Ok, I'm done venting. I just wanted to share my enthusiasm with everyone. Maybe I'll get home before I'm scheduled to fly out to Florida (14 Dec).

dude it's not the Army-
Its thee PEOPLE in the Army-

remember your experiences so in the future if you stay in and you have a junior soldier in your screwed up situation.

And you may have the rank or pull to put politics aside and make a difference for that soldier.

Sorry to hear about that Jack. You got screwed. Yes, it is the Army's fault because they promote uncaring idiots who don't care for their folks. But unfortunately, a lot of organizations are the same way, both in and out of the military. As you move up in rank, just remember how important it is to take care of the troops. I always felt that if I took care of the troops, they would take care of me. Hope you get home soon.

Jerry

sorry to hear Jack ... hope you get back in time for leave ...

Anyway, do you know the "Peter Principle"? Basic theory is that everybody is promoted to his/her own level of incapability ... I think it's not a theory ... ;)

Thanks everyone. I know it's the people, but the people make up the Army.
