my name is Tim and i'm over here in the states (Texas). i got my friend the Firebird and Trans Am Performance Portfolio for christmas, which is a collection of articles about the '93-'00s... road tests, comparisons, new model introductions, etc.

there was an article in '94 about the Trans Am in a magazine called Autocar that is from Britain i believe (wherever it was, they showed the price in pounds). the writer makes note of "the twin circular air intakes" and in the picture there are clearly no fog lamps where they should be, just two holes. do you guys know anything about this? GM made the Trans Am with 2 intake ports instead of foglamps? is it true? why do you think they might have done that? i think it's a pretty cool idea personally. any info would be helpful.

Try and contact Autocar directly and see if you can get a copy of the article.

But I can say i have never seen such a transam over here yet. Could be a custom job.

I am somewhat looking at doing the same idea. Where the air robber goes down between the engine and the radiator. With a little work, I'm using my fog light holes to route a 'ram-air' idea and run it to my intake. I'm wrestling with 5 different ideas right now, but I like the fog light idea the best!

Hey, that's funny, I got the same "book" for the Camaro. :)

I have been thinking about somethign along those lines for my camaro. I am tired of replacing blown fog lamp bulbs, so I think I'll just take out the housing and brackets and see if I can route some sort of ducting to the fog lamp opening. The only problem is there isn't a whole lot of room back there. Regardless, if you find some pics or info please post it!!

Euro spec TA's never had the fog lamps. I believe this is because they are too far inboard to comply with the regulations whereas the Camaro ones are outboard. If you want to see one, go to http://www.ukstreetracers.co.uk and click on Cars and then look for "Demolition Man" which is a red '95 TA. There's not much to see, the "intakes" are not the holes themselves but are located at the top edge of the "hole" which is blanked off at the back.

Oh...and they're nothing to do with the intake, they just feed air into the radiator section I believe.

My idea was to come up with some kind of duct that will pass under the radiator then up to the intake. Between the radiator and engine the is just enough space for the mass sensor. Although, if your car sits low this might be a problem.
Another idea is to move the battery to the trunk, get another air box, and run two air outlets to the intake, only problem is the ac hoses.
I'm still thinking though.
Is there a way to trick the mass sensor and somewhat completely take it out of the equation???

Get a 93 :P Really though, I'm sure there is some way through tuning or modifying the cars PCM to bypass the MAF, but I'm not sure what it is......
