So does anybody want to post some odds for me getting a ticket last sunday on A6 when I was flashed doing 200-220kph in a 120 zone? Also, does anybody know a shop near vilseck that sells good sets of bicycle head and tail lamps?

Yep your toast , It may take a while to get to you because of the APO system. More than likely Jag will respond with a letter to your Commander.
I've also seen the Poleizi with MP escort give the perp the option of paying on spot , or be arrested and taken down town and then handed over to the MP's. Your case with that much speed over the posted ,that would be reckless driving.

Go ahead and get ready to surrender your license for mininum 180 days with the Polezei and and up to a year from your Commander.
Its not a pretty picture.

What possesed you do that any way?

Hm ... for a german, more than 70 over would mean €375 fine, 4 points and 3 months license suspension ... at least that's all I was able to find ... being 80 to 100 over might be just a bit irresponsible, don't you think???

Bruce, have you just been too fast for them to catch the plate on the pic? :D

220 in 120 zone?!? Outch.
You will walk for a very long time...
German speed limits not always make sense, but 100kph over?!?
Thats crazy.

They flashed me once with 135 in 100 zone, but just at that moment when I switched lanes - I never got a ticket for this, I guess because they couldn´t see my twisted front plate ;)

@Hawk: Do you drive without front license plate?

Hopefully you'll luck out like Bruce. Next time take the plate off. Then you won't have that problem. :) Yeah it's illegal but at least you won't jeapordize your license in doing so. Fine at the most and put the plate back on to appease them.

BGB's SS1 Look up the USAREUR REGULATION 190-1.

Chapter 2 to include traffic point table,

Chapter 5 section 4.

before I proceed any further I have worked with a liason for the german police in matters like this.

that flash photo of you is considered legal evidence or a binding legal document.

as a result, it is subject to legal scrutiny and criticism. If there are any flaws or defects in the picture you could get off on a " technicality"- Being faulty evidence. It is thrown away and you are free.

this is your first offense you may just be fined significantly, assessed 6 point and license revoked for 30 days.

Pay your fine, do your time, and you will be driving again. After around twenty months of no more violations, your points will be cleared, but the record stays. Just don't get caught for anything in the next 2 years otherwise you could lose your license for a year (just for starters)

Where you around any city limits? I hope not . It is much, much worse.
The Germans really hate that stuff in city limits.

On German radio they put out where the "radarkontrolle" (radar control) places are and to watch out for them.

You can also tell by the behavior or attitude of the traffic. If they are unusually slow in an area where they normally go faster- you can bet that there is a camera up ahead. Get out of that left lane and chill out for awhile.

Now - the UR 190-1. Hmmm.

the section where it covers speed limits, Chapter 2 , table 2-1 page 21
hmmmm. You are clear off the charts.

We all go fast BGB SS1. Many of us have been flashed. Some get away, some don't. After you have been here awhile you know

where " to go" and where " to whoa".

You'll understand the European drivng environment a little better after a couple years of experience.

Most of us here at F Body Europe understand, and can relate. Most of us have been driving here in Europe for quite a few years now.

I have been driving in Europe for over seven years- We have been there.

It sucks, but it is not the end of the world. You do what you have to do and move on.

But don't deny yourself the experience of driving an F Body here in Europe.
That will be a travesty.

I know in Belgium that they have also instituted the pay the police on the spot thing. I guess for a little more they just may not even turn the ticket in...at least thats what I have been told.

Dont know exactly how that would work with the flashing...maybe you were going too fast for the camera to get a clear pic?? Is that a possibility??

Good luck with that.

Besides the city limits there is also the construction areas where
the law is more strict.
The change of beeing too fast for the camera - I doubt it.
My coworker was driving 160 in a 60km construction area, and the
picture was very clear.

Hopefully it will never catch up to you. I have been flashed many a time( especially going to/coming from Burces) and never got or recieved a ticket, maybe you'll be lucky. Good luck,
Jeff

I got my picture taken last spring 290 KPH in an unlimited area by the airport in Stuttgart I believe A8. It was a rather dashing Picture of myself I thought. It was clear as a bell when they showed it to me amonth or so later. IT got me in trouble with the Safety office though.

To answer some of your questions it was between 530 and 630 in the morning on a Sunday and I was going from Vilseck to Landstuhl on A6 with the cruise set at 125mph. Almost nobody was on the autobahn but me... I just pulled the car out of gear upon seeing the signs ahead rather than hit the brakes thinking I'd just coast for a while. I called the german liason to the provost marshall down at the mp station and she told me that more than 70 kph over the speed limit on the autobahn would get me 3 months license suspension, 375 Euro fine, and 3 or 4 points on my license - she wasnt sure. It wasnt a construction zone or anything - it was right where A3 and A6 come together and they slow you down for all the on/off ramps.

125 mph = 200 km/h
deduct 10 %
= 180 km/h
which is 60 over?

sometimes the german and the APO mail systems
do not work too well with each other.

:?: :?: :?:

Well, kinda reminds me of "cruising" home with Kenny, Iroc and John from Munich.

Those red 120 signs mean KM/h not Miles per hour....

If you´re not here long and it was that early in the morning, you could try that sucker, i just mixed it up...

On the germans being cooperativ and redeeming your sins (eg. crawling up their a..) might help, saved me once on don´t drink and drive.

If not, you can get decent bicycle stuff at almost any "Baumarkt".

Wish you luck.... and Bruce, it sure helps having no front plate, as most pics are front only. Gosh how i hate that big geman fry pan on the front of my car.

Dino
