Man looks like my time in the fastlane is coming to a premature end! Found out today we can't extend over here. So 04 Jun I'm out!! It's hard for dual mil in the same AFSC to get assignments esp when both are E6's.
I was hoping to ext on more yr to make up for lost time w/ the Toy but it doesn't look like it's happening. I'll be on a world tour this last yr trying to make every single event. Only thing possibly good out of all of this is that we can stay overseas provide there are slots but it just won't be Ramstein. Spang is a option but it doesn't look promising either. England is out of the question. I'm not driving in the opposite lane and they wife will only make me rich and single because she'll kill herself the 1st time out. Italy hmmmmmm...too many beautiful women there and people don't respect your cars there either...it's like bumper cars there so that's a no-no too.

So it looks like Japan will be my only option unless I can get Hawaii which is wishfull thinking on my part. Oh well.........maybe something will happen from now until then and things change. I hope so I only have 2 laps @ the ring!! :twisted:

Being AF our bases are limited to 3 in GE. Spang isn't that big either so chances are small.

That sucks dude. Japan would be cool except I don't think you can bring the toy there. I might be wrong though. I personally am trying to go to England. Second choice is Ramstein. Both are on the equals so we will see.

Dave you can take your car there but to convert is not worth it. Also they do emissions testing there so I know I won't pass by a long shot. :) So maybe I can convice the wife to go to Aviano if they have slots available. Then I won't be too far from the southern guys if I do over nighters. Spang though is the 1st choice but I know the chances are slim slim slim.

So what has to be converted? I was under the impression (maybe wrong) that there was very little if anything to convert. I'm deffinetelly not doing anything radical to the ride just to have it in England.

Afaik, they build some new safety fences and eliminated a lot of bumps in some track sections (e.g. small and big Karussell should be completely new). I'm not talking about the general track layout, only about uneven track surface due to old asphalt etc.

I'll check it out tomorrow personally. ;)

In the Army if you can show progression you should be OK. So I found a E-8 job and put in the paperwork. If it gets dis-approved I will rotate back to USA in April 04. Should know in the next couple of weeks.

THIS ISLAND RACE....

Actually, if you want to bring a Euro spec car to the UK, you're OK but to import an American spec car under 10 years old brings the horror of the Single Vehicle Approval regs which means lots of conversion from door mirrors that have to fold back to a million niggling things like e-marked glass. The SVA regs were brought in to stem the tide of Japanese imports but it applies to everything. Since Chevy have stopped official imports, you can now only buy imported US cars through certain franchises and it costs. For example, a 2002 Anniversary Z28 for £33000 and a TA or Mustang Mach 1 for £35000 in SVA approved form. A Z06 cost £50000.

It used to be the case that you could import US cars on a personal import but now these regs apply to everyone. However, yoy may be able to drive round on foreign plates for a period but I'm not sure how long for. All I know is that it's designed to stop you doing it....!!!

As you can imagine, supplies are drying up apart from cars over 10 years old which don't have to comply with SVA as far as I know.

Well it looks like I may be in luck! Turns out our incompetent orderly room is uninformed. So I may be able to do another yr! Wohoo!!! If we don't get approved it's no biggie because if and when we go to war you know the routine. It'll be just like the Army. And if we still have to leave after that in O4 I'm heading down the street to Aviano. Wife wants to go and become a wino. LOL! She loves the wine there. I'll know in a month or 2 if we are approved for another extension.

Well you're probably right if I was going to stay in England and register the car on the economy. But I'm not planning on that and the licensing regs for us are super laxed compared to Geman registration. We register through the american base. I think you have to do all that stuff to register it in Germany too.
