I torqued the passenger side 15mm head studs to 22 lb/ft. No problems there. I even went the first additional 90 degrees w/ no problem. When I got to the #7 stud on the second 90* attempt, the damn socket cracked, sending my arm flying backwards, scraping half the skin off my elbow... Man, am I really supposed to go THAT far??? The first 6 were ok, but that one did it.. Are Craftsman tools not as great as I thought, or was that just a bit too much? |

Damn dude, don't even know your own strength huh 
On a serious note, craftsman tools are not what they once were!!! I buy them simply for the outstanding warranty. I Stay away from there power tools aliogether! Can you find another one? If not would you like for me to check around down here? Just let me know! |

Well, I know Jerry has one, but I don't want to break his, too..  I could probably find another one, but I don't want to buy the whole set, and I haven't seen single sockets around here.. At least not on post..

Well, if you did have to buy the whole set, you could return it with the broke one in it! Oh and after you do, let me know where you retuned it so I can go buy it at discount

For high torque applications like head work, wheel lugs, etc.. you should get a set of high impact sockets. they are designed specifically for them types of jobs. (they are the black thick sockets). I've broken many sockets taken off/putting on heads and other ares. The auto skills center should have a set, maybe they will let you sign them out for a day. |

If they are Craftsman, the BX should exchange them with no problems. Let me know if you need to borrow mine. |

John(JC), do they have 12 pt deep impact sockets? Do you have them? If so, can I borrow the 1/2"? I'd really appreciate it. I will check with the craft shop, but I doubt they will let me borrow it.. |

I don't think so, Jerry. I borrowed a mid-length socket from a guy in my building. I had to grind it a bit to make it fit around the stud, but the passenger side head is all done, up to the rockers. They are torqued.. I might finish it tomorrow.. We'll see. I think I might have a fuel rail leak, though, so I don't know yet if I'll be running.. |
