Hey folks, you better start showing up at the races in Bitburg again - we're seriously low on F-Bodies down there (apart from a couple older ones and just a hand full of 4th gens) - and had a VW Golf driver who picked up a trophy for fastest street car ... (beeting 'vets and just about anything with street plates on it) - at least a couple of folks like Jerry or Ben made it down there and did their runs ...

Where the *** are you all? Show them asian and german ricers some US muscle! Seems like this year all you guys want to do is sit around on your butt and brag about how fast you are ... ;)

Maybe world events may be one factor/ guys returning stateside and fewer active F-bodies coming from the states to Europe another. -

Another factor which I have seen is that some people are thinking about other things- like wife, family. This is another significant factor.

I am going to remain neutral on this but I can say that the Vilseck Clan will be completeley different by this time next year, Garry. And I will be one of the most significant members in Vilseck.

I wish I could come to meets all the time. But when I am responsible for 10 soldiers in 3 military communities I always ending up working on the weekends because I am running around too much to take care of my own stuff. And if anyone doubts me I can give them some of the work that I have to do-

Everytime I think I got some time, something happens, a soldier screws up on something- it never fails. I can't tell you the last time I really had 2 or more days free. I can't.. And I am not married and I have no children.... I also don't have any girlfriends because they wanted more time that I did not have.

There are some F-bodies in my neck of the woods that could come down there and kick some serious @ss, you all know who they are. But there are wife and family things that they have to attend to. From my limited perspective, this wife/marriage/family thing may be well the most significant. I have never been married, and I don't have any children

I am not chastising anyone or saying anything negative at all. Anyone who is married understands what I am saying. There are other responsibilities. At least in my neck of the woods.

Garry, my wife is my F-body, a 99 LS-1 Trans Am (#46) my baby is a hayabusa motorbike. This is my family.

When not at work, F-Body Europe or a good racetrack is where I choose to be.

Where did all the "hardcore" guys go? I couldn't really tell you.

I shall make note of your question, Garry. In a way, it suprises me and yet, in another way, it doesn't.

I am not looking for anything else in my life. I am happy with what I have. In the 33 years of my life nothing has been more fulfilling and nothing will come between me and my two machines..

I am staying neutral on this, but I hear you Garry, I hear you loud and clear. And I am not forgetting it. I shall keep it in mind...

I do understand there are more important issues than going to a race - but I'm just curious to a certain degree, as last year (well, actually already for the two dates in 2001), everybody was complaining there weren't enough quartermile races available - people driving all the way up to Netherlands, over to Eurospeedway, and also to Bitburg, e.g. resulting in over 250 racers in Bitburg last September. And all the time, wishing there were more races available. But also having lots of fun at the track, for both driver and family ...

And yes, losing some FBE members that PCS away from Germany is a factor, as are the other factors like the troops being away in the big sandbox ... taking all this into account, I'd still expect more people to show up ... especially with all the improvements that have been made for the racers ...

Oh well ...

All that stuff with family, PCsing etc might be true to some degree.
But last weekend there simply was that big Munich event (shorter distance for most bavarian guys) and I myself was at RT1s birthday party...

AND Bitburg is for me still a 510kms drive one way, plus registration fee, plus beer, plus meat etc...
Last time I was able to do lots of runs, had fun and was also pretty happy with everything (organisation etc), but nevertheless: It costs money (I could fly to Spain for that ammount).

Garry those guys complaining about not enough events were the core of FBE. The founding fathers. All those guys are gone w/ the exception of myself, Jack and you. The current group IMO just don't have that desire for what it was we were trying to accomplish. Nothing against that but the FF were just pure car nuts. True alot has changed since then due to world events and such but what we had then and now is just totally different. Vilseck clan has got the FF thing goin on no doubt about it. Things change that's all I can say..........me personally I miss the old days. Hanging out in the cold for HOURS just shooting the sh..

It was a tuned VW Golf R32 with about 500hp but weighing over 1700 kilos. He went a 12.7 as far as I remember.

Nope, Ben, he made a 11.3 run if I got the right number in the stats ...

2. Boyz and girlz thats 600 klicks one way for most of thge bavarians.

3. I´ve got mortgage to pay, so my mod money is short now....

Hope to see youa all at least in October...
