Ok, so I havent been here in a while. I left Europe at the end of June to attend BNCOC in the states...so I have been here in Virginia in school. Still here through the end of September, but then will be back in Belgium. I havent had much access to the web lately so I apologize, but I have tried doing some catch up on posts that people have made. Still hope to get together with some of you guys sometime when I am back. In other news, I did get to drive my Trans Am when I was home for the first time since I had my engine transplant...from the 305 to the 350. Its not as much power as I had hoped, but throttle response was really good. Still had hoped for even more power...was told it would be around 400hp, but think its probably more likely around 275-300. I didnt get to put it on a dyno, so thats just a guess. Talk to you guys sometime soon. Patrick |

Where did you get the engine built at? If you were told by the builder that it'll have 400 hp, you shouldn't have to pay for 300. Anyway, have fun at BNCOC. Make sure that you travel. D.C. is a must see. At least the Memorials and Arlington. Be at Arlington at noon for the changing of the guard... |

I had the engine built in a place in Columbus, Ga. I paid the guy to do the swap from the tbi 305 to a 350. Originally we were going with an LT1, then there were issues about that so he was going to find a tpi engine. He claimed he couldnt locate one he liked, so finally chose to go with an engine he said came from a camaro, which got it from a 1970-71 Corvette. I could have dealt with that, but when I got the engine I had the block checked and its from either a 1970 Bel Air, or Kingswood. Nothing sporting about it at all of course. The heads are from about a 1973 pickup truck...so they suck. They told me they changed the cam, but they didnt. He also put 1. used carb 2. used intake 3. used, rusty headers 4. timing was all wrong 5. supposedly forged pistons, but doesnt sound like it 6. more than I have time to list here... Had to pay another mechanic about $4100 to straighten out that mess. He offers a warranty, but the last thing he told my wife when she got the car was "F--- You!!!" Would you want to take your car back to a guy like that?? You get the idea. I will likely take him to court, but after shelling out all that money I dont have money for lawyers....most want at least $1500 as a retainer then $150 per hour after that. On my salary, thats tough. Took me long enough to get the money to do that work. Patrick |

![]() Keep in mind that there might not too much of a difference between short blocks from a Bel Air or a 'Vette. I want to say the the LT- 1 was an option and that the Vette also came with a similar 350 as in other cars. (although with a different cam and heads) |
