Post subject: | Sven has weird hours for a Customs Guy? |
lately I have been driving just about every day all day long then I am in the office until around ten oclock at night then back at three thirty in the morning catching up on my work that I could not do because I had to drive all over Germany and I could not get my office stuff done. I had three hours sleep last night, it is after midnight tonight and I am up because of an idiot that lost his room key and his roomates key also. And I am doing paperwork on that, I have to get up at three to get him up and have his room secured at 4, drive for an hour and a half at 5, come back in the afternoon around 4, catch up on work until around dark, get up around 4, drive back and forth three diferent places all morning long each stretch 1 1/2 hours, try to catch up on work and conduct rehearsals for urban warfare in the afternoon, catch up on more work in the evenings I am so tired that on the weekends I just sleep... I do use a few hours to catch up on work, but I mostly sleep. But every week is pretty much the same I only sleep on average about three - four hours then I am usually driving during the day and catching up on work evenings and early mornings. So right now I am simply too tired to do anything on the weekends. This is absolutely not of my doing, my HQ simply thinks that making more work will solve things, and it is not working. Some people think of their job as their life, and they just don't get it that some people do have a life other than work. I could simply do the work only during duty hours, but it always comes back on me in the long run, because the work will not get done. and the soldiers that work under me have more than their share as well. So if some people are not sure why I am so busy- It is because I am in charge of all American Customs on the South eastern part of Germany that borders along Czech and Austria, with HQ in a Central Part of Germany. So Garry, my hands are currently tied. |

Damn, and I thought I had a busy day. I'm training NCO for 19 people. So, I spend most of my time in the garage or at the craft shop. |

You are crazy. 7-4 mon-fri. You think that is because I am low ranking. No. Shop chief, E-7 or any other NCO in my shop doesn't work more than 45 hours a week unless something major happens. |

well good for you; unfortunately, my area of operation takes a good 4 hours to cross. By the way it is 8pm on a friday night and I just got back in to the office, with a bunch of paperwork. What? drive where this weekend? Sorry, I need a break. |

It's okay, I like the area where I am at, and I would not trade it for anywhere else. But yes, the long hours do get old. |

Well, not saying anything bad about anyone else, atleast there are still people out there going the extra mile, or in your case the extra 100 miles, to get the job done! |

At least you don't have to pay for the gas. That's about the only thing positive I can think about it. That and the fact that you're not putting mileage on your car. |
