Just heard on the Late Show:

Quote:
At a Klan initiation, one Klan member shot his rifle in the air. Bullet came back down, hit another member in the head and exited at the bottom of his skull.

Luckily, being in the Klan, his brain is not considered a vital organ.

and

In Raleigh, a five-legged dog is getting surgery to have two of his five legs removed.

How bad has it gotten in this country with basic math?

The latter sounds stupid, but in fact, medical reasons might require both the extra leg and another to be removed ... read more here.

I'd say shoot that dog.
Other than they say in this story, 5 or six legs or other misbuilds are not rare,
grown up on a farm, and having a "Western Town and Animals Park" in the neighborhood I have seen myself a calf, a sheep and a deer (in that park) with six legs, dogs and cats with anything from two to six legs or different numbers of toes. I remember a cat which had only 3 toes on each leg.
Inbreed, but running faster than all others, just not as fast as the car hit it.

It is evolution, there is variations to the "normality" all the time.

If the experiment is a success it will reproduce and better the race or adjust it to the changed environment.
But most of natures experiments are not ment to survive.
Which is a healthy elimination, only the strongest and best survive.

In nature or on a farm many years ago there was no place for
5-legged dogs, even healthy unwanted kittens and puppies had a bad chance to survive the first week of their life.
Ok, I believe it is better now that everybody can bring their cat or dog
to the vet to get them neutered instead of killing them.
But people are getting carried away, they waste money at a puppy
which was not meant to grow up while they know about kids in the world
need medication and food.

Don't get me wrong. I love animals.
