Save some time and don't even go over to the Alamo one. That track sucks. I ran on it and so did my friend and ever time we could not get any kind of traction//not to mention the track is a rough ride. All the people that go there are the not ready to run on a ihra/nhra sponsored track. I have seen some strange things over there. The last time I was there, there were some dude drank a beer and hit the track. That was the time I left, had a enough of that place. Now San Antonio Raceway is awesome. I have a very good friend that runs a 86 corvette with a junk yard 400, vortec heads, lumpy cam, and some extras=runs 10.2. Just to bad he will be in korea during that time. If you want me to I can get ahold of Glenn, another friend that has a blown small block cradled in a orange 41 Willies. He maybe running the vette since it is a group project. Let me know.

Wow, come on over to El Paso when you get here. It's only 9 hours away. I think they have trees there, maybe I will come out that way.

No, but they seem to have a speed limit  Anyway, seems a bit long to me, too ... I don't think I drove that long from Shelby, NC to Cape Canaveral ... !?

I wouldn't be surprised if it is more than 9 hours. Texas is that big. El Paso is closer to Los Angeles than it is to Houston. Amarillo is almost as close to Canada as it is to Brownsville. Big place.

Mapquest said something like 9h 8min and 552mi for San Antonio to El Paso ... OK, TX is big, then ...

Garry, it really is that big, unless you get away with speeding the whole time. Don't mess with Texas, though- they will screw you up!

I don't have a problem with driving in the US - I think my odometer in the states is well beyond 10000 mi in a total of 2 1/2 to 3 months of leave time ... not a single ticket in any of the ~10 states I've travelled through ...

No- I wasn't insinuating that, Garry! I simply meant that if you drive the speed limit, it will definitely take you 9 hours (or more) to cross Texas!

Yeah, TX is big. We drove from Central Florida to here. San Antonio is like in the center of the state, so you still have 9 hours to the east to go also. There is a reason for the song line, "that west TX town of El Paso". We are as far west in TX as you can get.

I have not heard of anybody getting executed for speeding?

Just because you haven't heard of it doesn't mean it doesn't happen!

Texas is bigger than all of germany. From san antonio it is 10 hours to any border in any direction. I was stationed there for 3 years. Alamo dragway does suck but as far as I know loose on tech inspections.
