Anyone been there? Other than for training that is. What's it like? Housing OK? Where's the nearest track?
Looks like I'll be heading that way this summer.
Any info you guys (and gals) can give will be appreciated.

I haven't been there, but you're right in the heart of racing country.. You got NC, FL, GA- all within a few hours driving distance. Not to mention the fact that SC probably has more than its fair share of race tracks, etc. I wouldn't mind being stationed there one bit! ;) Good luck!

I was there prior to going to Benning for Infantry School...in 1983. So anything I could tell you would be moot. I'm sure the weather hasn't changed is all.

Should be there in July, yeah, I'll sweat to death. Basic huh? I didn't know that you'd be going. What will your MOS be? Who knows, I might see you there, especially if you're going to be a mechanic!

Hmm, that doesn't sound too bad at all. They'll probably wait on you in basic.

the best advice i can give for basic is to walk alot with about 20lbs on your back and run 2 or 3 miles every other day till you get there. and don't take anything the drills say personally they are there to motivate you and false motivation is better then no motivation.

Do you know where you will be stationed after AIT? Did the recruiter give you duty assignment choice?
