Hey Roy I got a couple of Qs and figure you were the best one to ask.
1) What were the strong 9 inch rear ends in?
2) How good was the 9 inch in the 65 stang vert?
3) Which ones had a posi in them.

The width doesnt matter i have a guy here who can fix that I just want to get a strong one and if at all possible one with a posi. I found a place here that has about eight 9 inches and I want to get a good one.

The general build of the Ford nine is basically Identical to the first that that was built in the 50's.

The Strong Center sections are the ones with a N cast on the center section. Alot of pickups had these also I have seen them on mustangs with the drag pack option, whether it was original or not I don ot know. The N stood for a Nodular Iron case.

How good was the 9 inch in a 65 Vert ? Well the axle was used in 1/2 ton trucks so it is pretty stout.

For the Posi's you have to check the axle build tag for an L that would be with the ratio. but than it may be hit or miss.

Watch out for the Ford nine that is in the big heavy Lincoln town cars .
Hope this helps.THe ring gears are slightly bigger . whick is good , but selection is poor.
