For the AF worst place to be. Depending on your job. You don't live there you are mostly deployed.

My wife is at pope and as much as I would like to see you here john all I have to say is.....RUN AWAY!!!! My wife is currently in Iraq and I know the kind of "He said POOP" she puts up with here it rivals army stupid "He said POOP". Great place for our hobbys but let me tell you it is a arm pit for career. I am Bragg and I cant stand this place either. I cant wait to get back to the land of duetch. But anyway if you dont live near fayetteville it does get a lot better. But you always have to got the lake of fire at least 5 times a week.

I did Langley for 10yrs and loved it. I was there when it was a TAC base and it was off the chain! We are trying to head back there for our last assignment and retire in 5 yrs. Lots of people hated that place why I don't know but alot more loved that place and are trying their hardest to get back.

I did three years there before I got here. It was the whole HQ thing that wore me out. That and the 1st Comm mentality, "Always First" which meant, the leadership always gave up their people first for every damn TDY that was open AF wide that was needed to be filled. It's like anywhere else though I suppose, with the right leadership, it could be really nice. I had a house in Suffolk, right outside of Western Branch it was nice down there. My wife really wants to go back...

RT you don't mind me asking about your house you had there. How many square feet was it and how much did it cost you? How old or new was the house and what kinda of community. The whole time I was there I never once thought to look around and get an idea of what the housing was like. Now I gotta go back this summer and start shopping to get a idea of what I'm up against. No more than 200K is our limit. We are buying it outright. I may even build if I can do it w/ in our limit as well and get exactly what we want. 1 story 2500-3000 sq ft, 2.5 bath and 3 car garage is the basic that and being brick w/ a fireplace.

The house I had in Suffolk was just a little over 2000sqft 2 car garage 3 br, 2.5 bath w/ a jacuzzi in the master suite. It was in a cul de sac sitting on 3/4 acre lot. I had the house built amd it cost me $154,500 and I think I paid no more that $500 in closing costs at the time of moving in. It was a new subdivision and the people were really nice. Let me know if I can give you anymore info!

Damn you had that built for 154K? Ya don't have any pics by any chance would you? That's pretty decent size. It's just me and the wife w/ 2 cats so that's more than enough space. Sound like you got a good deal w/ the closing cost too.

We kinda don't want to be in a neighborhood so to speak. Not total country but not another house w/in a 1/2 a acre of us is what we're looking for. Plan to have a lot of loud toys and don't need the po-po being called on me for noise pollution.
