Post subject:  Car covers

Why do I see so many car covers on cars? I'm refering to the soldiers that deployed from Kitzigen. There is a motorpark full of cars and quite a few have car covers on them. Some actually used ratchet straps and plastic tarps. Most of those have blown off leaving the straps to rub the paint off of the cars. Don't people know that covers can do more harm than good when parked outside? BTW, there are no trees in the area, so no bird do-do or sap.
A couple of the cars are Rustangs as well. How can I tell? The covers are coming off. I wonder how they are going to react when they have racing stripes on the hoods of their cars going the wrong way...(side to side)
As long as no F-Bodies get damaged.

will the fabric hurt the paint job after time?

The covers usually have a soft inside layer, so that shouldn't do anything...
I have one for my 'vert, but only use it in the winter, and in the garage ... so no problem there with wind ...

If they are tight, they should be ok, but if they move around, rubbing the paint, that is a problem! ;)
