I'll be at Kapaun working on my clutch some more. I took it out and put it back in 3 times yesterday between 11 and 7. I am going to try my old pressure plate and if that doesn't work, I think it will be time for a new flywheel. :( I guess I should have replaced it when I did the clutch earlier this year, but I didn't want to believe that I needed a new one after buying the steel billet... Oh well, I guess 3 years is a long time to last, especially with my driving.

How did the flywheel look?

Pretty used. It has severe hot spots, and is not very smooth at all any more. I'm pretty sure it will have to be replaced, but until I get one, I'm gonna try every other available option. :?

So what is the problem?

The SPEC stage III is the biggest piece of "He said POOP" ever. I think I would have gotten more life out of a stock clutch. I am going to have to replace the whole clutch, to include the flywheel. I know Bruce- I'm looking at the RAM setup, but everybody swore by this stupid clutch, and look how far it got me- 4000 miles. What a joke.

I'm so sick of this stupid car. Jason- are you ready to buy my seats???

So what is it ,is not doing.?

Roy, the pad is already worn down to the rivets or whatever. I've had the clutch on the car for maybe 8 months. I had 2+ years out of my Cartek, and that clutch still grips. I actually put it back in today. I knew the flywheel needed replacement, but the whole clutch??? Is it possible to wear a clutch out faster by using a worn flywheel? If so then I'm an idiot, but if not, I am really pissed.

yes jack. A flywheel if it is uneven will kill a clutch quick. You can turn them slightly kinda like a brake rotor but it will get hot quicker. I have a couple flywheels laying around.

Jack, I have to agree with Bruce on this one. Running a used flywheel that is severly worn on a new clutch is like rubbing butter over sandpaper. The rough flywheel will eat the clutch material quick. Just remember that when you run a high pressure clutch on the street, it will kill it quick also. They like one position. That is engaged. When your clutch chatters it is making hot spots in the flywheel. Good luck on changing out the clutch this weekend.

You guys are too funny, but thanks. It makes sense now. That's what I get for taking the cheap way out. Roy, you don't think you'd be willing to sell it to me, do you? If not I understand, but if so, that would certainly help me at this point in time.

Hey Bruce, what kind of flywheels do you have lying around, and how bad are they, exactly? Are they stock? I'm sure they need to be resurfaced, but I'm just wondering whether I should just take the plunge again, and order a new one. Thanks.

Jack , Iwish it was just sitting on my shelf for stockage, But alas it is going in real soon. http://www.paceperformance.com is selling the 2002 LS6 clutch assembly for 359.00. This is the same setup I have since late 2001 (when they were released) Its got 30,000 miles on it and still going strong . Plus it gives you PP,Flywheel and disk.[/url]

So that's what you use Roy? Well that sounds like a good deal, especially considering the fact that our cars are pretty much at the same level- power wise. Thanks for the tip. That is about half the price I was expecting to spend. Is that what you'll be replacing the current one with again?

Yes Jack that is the one that is still in there . But my replacement is a Spec Clutch. I am moving up on the Horsepower for nextyear.

Thanks. What flywheel will you be using with the Spec?

I'll be using a Fidenza Alu Flywheel.
