The pic is from the place the guy posted it to to sell the car ... as mentioned in the other thread (classic f-body), I'm going down next week to look at it and pick it up ... I hope the car is in the shape he told me, which would mean most of the body should be halfway decent (restored in 96), and the motor should be running nicely once we get the ignition repaired ... I'll let y'all know once I get home Tuesday night ... will be posting picture from the car then, too ... |

Well, if it was restored in '96, I would think it should still be in great shape??? |

Yeah, I've seen cars "restored" where they slap some body filler in the rust holes and paint the car... a year later you have a wavy fendered bubbled paint nightmare!!! Quick trick... take a small magnet with you...put it on the door to get a feel of how the strength should be, then put it on various regions around the front and rear fenders. If the magnet does not have any "magnetic powers", you have body filler in those places. 1st and 2nd Gen F-Bodies were notorious for rusting rear 1/4 panels (around the wheel wells especially), trunks and floorboards. Also look at the trim areas around the front and rear windows to amke sure they are not rusted out. Water and leaves often collect there and cause the area to rust quickly. Pay close attention to these areas. They are all royal PITA's to repair. Good Luck with the car, I hope you find a keeper!!! |
