Post subject: | Some feedback from RaceWars... |
I didn´t go to RaceWars this time as I went to Luckau, but a friend of mine, Marc, went there and i thought i´d share what he told me about it - i was not very happy about this: Seems like even more people like last time visited the event, the place was crowed like hell, they parked everywhere. Same thing for the line for racing, took hours to get to the start line. Things became better at 2000 when they opened the air strip and people could drive back this way. Nevertheless it was still bad. Some idiot raced in the camping lot towards the parking lot and hit a parked car (a nice, clean, restored Opel Ascona!) frontal. Neither the driver, nor his girlfriend where wearing safety belts... Well, the windshield broke this way. The Ascona got totaled, flew 6meters backwards and was squeezed together to half it´s length. Thank god nobody else got hurt. Oh, and btw that idiot was not even driving his own Golf - the owner was drunk and sleeping in his tent. Great work. And like we saw it last year those "track sheriffs" did nothing about idiots racing in the parking lot. They shouted at them, but that´s it. I´ll get some more details this week, i´ll let you know then.Probably 30birdy can jump in and tell some more... But if things are really that way, i´m not sure if i really need to do Eisenach again. When it started it was really great... |

... and people wonder why Silke doesn't let things get out of hand in Bitburg ... only problem is that things happening at one such event might have negative effects on other, safer events ... ![]() |

you can not compare Bit and Eisenach. we do not nearly get as many people/cars. but such things happen when somebody drives somebody elses car... remember the driver went through the fence racing his friend with swapped cars? ok only scratches and the fence was fixable. Or, the broken T-Top of somebody on this board... That was minor things, but to all: let it be a warning to you. Don't get drunk and don't give your car out the hand at such an event since also the insurances do not cover! |

Well, I'll agree with what Chris heard from Marc. The crazies are always out and yes one got out of control. Silke is right, let's not compare the 2. For those of you that've been there, Eisenach is more about partying than racing. It seems to be the same as last year except the big sponsors are now representing SPEED DAYS. So alot of the faster cars are gone. I just wonder how SPEED DAYS will turn out. Sounds like MZA Luckau was a fun, but safe atmosphere for race enthusiasts. |

Well if we don't keep a handle on the drivers(especially the ones that think that it is Eisenach) it will get out of hand. There are still people speeding and doing burn outs and OH YEAH! That DUMB A$$ that was driving around in that silver Roush Mustang. As he drove by me he was tipping the bottom up(Bitburger never the less) . Once he stopped I schooled him on the rules of drinking and driving and that there were children out (especially mine). Silke, Garry and any other people that owns up to responsability to setting this up probably need to set the rules straight. Maybe it is me, correct me if I am wrong! |

Thank you for telling him the rules. It is amazing, there was one girl taking driving lessons on Saturday night - I watched with a grin because she kept killing the engine of the PT Cruiser every time she was starting the car or shifting - and ready to jump in and tell her, that we do not have a driving school in case she was getting too far and too fast - especially with the kids around playing. Just a few minutes later there was traffic in the parking lot like almost on the main street... everybody seemed to take driving lessons now! That was when the security and we got very busy to stop a bunch of cars, all driving around in circles and starting to race each other. I do not like to be a fun killer, but that was a typical sample: let her get away for a few minutes of practicing, you got a half dozen out of control to catch. What is it, do they not get enough racing during the day? |

What are your agreements with the owners of the area? Could we have a 24hr burnout zone? What about a doughnut area at the end of the track? What about stuff that isn't normal driving or normal drag racing? Exhibition times? Or is this all too much? |

The airport simply restricts all driving activities after 1800h... on exceptional basis I might be able to go an hour longer. Besides that, at that time people start BBQ and having beer with it. We do not really need drunk drivers, or what do you think? |

no we don´t need drunken drivers. You can play till 18:00. That is time enough, after this time you can make party, eat something and drink beer, but no driving. That is my opinion. |

Yeah drinking and driving is bad. Besides...my car has some cool toys I have not shown you guys yet at night time. Would love to add some smoke to the effect...but I can do that with dry ice. |

Yeah, I had a blast hanging out with some of you last year, but reading the horror stories from here and over at mighty mustangs I don't know if I want to risk my little black "skittle" getting dinged or some drunken idiot scratching it. I'd be forced to beat them into a coma with their own beer. Car covers only entice them to start lifting up the cover and messing with it more. And that big fence setup so early down the track gives you ZERO time to properly slow down, you practically have to jam the brakes. I did a bootlegger at the end and some idiot tried to yell at me until I yelled back to move the frickin' fence BACK more. That's when I quit. If there was just some way to combine the "party events" of Eisenach with the excellent control, handling, and computerized system of Bitburg...that would be perfect. But for those of you coming in from the south up A5, we could all meet at the AAFES gas station there in Giessen and convoy on up. Watch out for the cams on A5 north of Giessen though... |

... it is up to the people to have the party. we got the music with disco lights going, the party tent, phone numbers for as many strippers you want... and plenty of beer since the brewery is close by but it seems that the people driving to Bitburg just don't want to have the parties, most leave towards downtown in evenings or prefer to BBQ in front their tent or even go to "rest" early to be fit for all the driving the next day. maybe all get too much good driving - if we made them wait in long lines maybe they get more into partying instead of driving ![]() |
