I knew I forgot to post something. :D Well Sat I went to CARS even though it was going to be a flop (intuition). Walked around a few and there was a skittle (SRT-4) that I had been meaning to check out (rumored 400hp) and see for myself.

Well I get over there and the guy is there. Blk w/ orange stripes. I'm checking it out and it looks good. I've heard it on the road before and it's got some burble to it but I don't think it's cammed but it could be so I can't say for sure.

I finally get to talk to the guy and I tell him "nice Skittle" don't think he heard me other then the word nice. I ask him what he's done to the engine because I heard it was pushing 400hp. He goes on to say (hold on here) nah it's got 500hp! Stage 3 kit and everything custom and had it dyno'd at Hock a few wks back and runs 11.2 in the 1/4! He said he paid 25K that's right 25K for the engine alone! He then tells me the only car that gives him problems on the autobahn are 911TT's. I'm like your a 500hp and 1/2 as light as the TT you should be smoking his azz! Something is fishy here...hell I'm damn near 4000lbs and I've never had a problem w/ one. He said he pegs out at 170mph because of the gearing. Yeah ok....25K and you leave the stk gearing in there but everything else is beefed up in the tranny to include the axles etc? He said the entire tranny was rebuilt for the stage 3 w/ beefier parts. I asked if he mind popping the hood and he was like sure.

Pops the hood and what is looking at me? Looked to be a plain ole SRT-4 but what do I know? Then he proceeds to tell me more and show me things like I'm clueless. I'm saying to myself 500hp 4cyl turbo w/ a stk manifold? Hmmmmmmm. Don't see the BO anywhere in site but I'm sure it's there. He tells me he runs 28 psi but can go up to 35-40 and has the this thing on his dash that show's how much he's running and how much he's got it set at...totally adjustable boost regulator.

He gets ready to start it up and ask me to back away from the tail pipes as it's "really loud". Blurps the throttle and then revs it up to 6K or so a couple of times and you get the popping sound of engine decelerating etc. Too me it wasn't that loud and more anoying if anything over a given period of time. Never once did I hear the blow off go off which was weird....IMO at least. At idle it sounds damn good but anything above 4K and I'd get tired real quick of driving it no matter how fun or fast for that matter. But that's just me.

So after our discussion and everything...guy was pretty cool I'll admit but the story was just suspect....I head off to the other toys in the park. I see Wenzel's SRT-4 red w/ black graphics but I didn't talk to him. He opens his hood and I look inside and you could tell there was some work there. BO if I'm not mistaken it look like he had 2....and a whole bunch of other chit on there. Looked real good. Dude cranks his car and I immediately could tell he had work done on it as well. Blips the throttle and the next thing I hear is BO go off. That bad boy was LOUD!

I talk to UV (Unlimited Visions) and tell them the story of what I was just told and they all started laughin. They was like dude ran a 13.8 at best up in bitburg.....I asked about the 500hp claim and they was like we don't know we just know it's a stage 3. He didn't have no paper's to back up the 500hp claim I guess he just thought I was some dummy that didn't know nothing. LOL! You claim numbes like that you better have a dyno sheet in place in a frame or something!

So if you see a SRT-4 w/ bio hazard stickers on the wing blk on blk w/ orange stripes you better duck and run. He'll put the whoop azz on you if you aren't careful. :D Good looking car I'll give him that but the 25K 500hp claim at 11.2................I'd have to see 1st hand.

So what do you guys think?

I told him I'd run em' if I ever see him. He was cool w/ that and asked what I got. Told him a camaro and he's like....oh.

Is it me that just notices that? You tell folks what you drive and they have that look like I feel sorry for you? LOL! But the look on their face when they see it and hear it are like "dayumn!" and then and only then do I have their respect/approval.

Yep, seen him at Hockenheim and Bitburg. As the others told you, he ran a 13.8 or so in Bitburg. Didn't come even close to 11s.

So did he appear to be fast @ Hock Ben? Not calling him a liar yet but why do they have to lie? LOL! He said he trapped 138mph! Even w/ bad traction and 500hp you still got to do better then 13.8!

that's why I went to Nurburgring instead of Cars on Saturday. You can't talk BS if you can't back it up when you're at the track.

I saw that guy and his Srt4 in Hockenheim and Bitburg that was like 3months ago and he said he got 350horses.So i said ok we see what he can do at the track ;),but he was just cruising at the track.I maybe passed him 5times in 20minutes.At the and of the Sachskurve he stepped on it a little bit so everybody can hear the sound from the 4banger ;).Then i saw him in bitburg an he never drives a 11,he can be happy to drive a mid 13 in the 1/4.So i say that guys just talk Bs.

What ChevyV6 said, I remember him taking it very easy in Hockenheim (and that's OK for a beginner there) so it's difficult to tell. Bitburg however is a different story and a trap speed of 138mph is total BS unless the timing system was malfunctioning at his run. :)

In the magazin "chrom & Flammen" is a test from the 2004 Dodge SRT "Stage 3". This car was tuned from PentaStarSTyling in Sankt Augustin (Germany).
This SRT has 355 HP, not more.

At bitburg his excuse was that he was just getting used to the clutch. I won't say more...They watch this board and we watch their board. No need to cause animosity amongst us.

"getting used to a clutch" does not cost you 2 seconds on a 1/4 mile.

from my 1st 1/4 mile run to my best , there was only 0.4 seconds difference and I figured that out in a about 5 runs. From there, i could tell you what I was going to run within .1sec just by looking at the temp and there was only about .2 seconds difference between 190'f and 230'f.

Now that is funny. Did you ask him what time he had to drop it off to the TMP on post? :D

No animosity here. I was just telling a story. I didn't fab nothing up but I'm just relaying it here verbatim. Just wondering if anyone ever heard of a 500hp 4cyl turbo?

Never once did I knock him, I gave him his props on the car and the work he done to it even when I wrote the book in here the same thing. I was just curious to hear what others thought. I didn't bash the guy.

there are four cylinders out there with that kind of power. big turbos and all the other modifications that you gotta do so you can support the big turbo can do wonders.

There is one Blue SRT4 over here in D-Statd:

Stage 3 Turbo
Up-Graded Greedy Intercooler
Mopar Header and Exhaust
Electronic Boost Controler
Methanol Injection
etc.......
18PSI

He was talking smack about how no V8 could get him and how he kills them every day.

So, I ask him if he wanted to run my little "hoopty".....he agreed!

We went the first time (according to him with 8PSI) and needless to say I pulled like 500 car lenghts on him, not even a sign of hanging with me not even at the start!

Then, he "upped the boost" to his "18PSI", and again......destroyed.

Now, he will not talk smack about the American V8s any more!

Naz

Way to go NAZ! :) At least he didn't back down and make excuses and took it like a man.

I know 500hp 4's are possible but I can't see it w/ a stk exhaust manifold is all I'm saying.

... except maybe better engineering ... ;) It is kinda sorry to see that I have 3.8L in my V6, and can hardly keep up with some cars w/ half the CUI ... of course I'll blow away a V8 TPI in a third gen, but ... the straight six in a BMW will be a pretty good competition for a stock LS1, and probably beat an LT1, though it's only 3.3L ...

bite yur tongue Garry.
I have never had a BMW sixxer even come close. The e46 M3 was kinda close but that car is not even in the LS1's league.
