Congrats to the crew at Wheel 2 Wheel in Michigan for getting project "Casper" down the track in the six-second zone. This is the first Gen III powered vehicle to run the sixer! The car is also the first Gen III to clear the 200 mph zone in the 1/4-mile.

I remember a thread last year on this. Someone was saying that the LS1 is just a fast street car and would never compete with the top Mustangs. It may be only one but they are coming. Had another LS1 break the seven second zone this year. Three others are deep in the eights. Also had an LT1 almost hit the 7 second zone. Most of the 10 second cars are running nines now on stock cranks and a few on stock short blocks. 11s in a LS1 aren't even considered fast anymore.
Iron block or not, it's still an LS1. Don't be a hater. Don, I think I remember a conversation similar to that one. I wonder if we were in the same crowd at the time.

I remember who started the conversation but I will not metion any names here. I just stand behind the LS1 because I have owned many GM cars over the years. I spent $6000 on my 350 small block chevy to run high 12s. The LS1 is too easy to build. Now the aftermarket is booming and the prices are coming down. I remember when a set of LS6 ported heads was $2500 through SLP and that was with an exchange. Now, the same heads with better valve springs can be had for $1400 without exchange. I am just glad to have an LS1.
