A buddy of mine from the academy is PCSing to Spang in a few months and is asking me about all of the car requirements. Since mine is mostly stock, I didn't have to worry much about the details of what is required for aftermarket stuff, but he has a 99 C5 that is pretty heavily modified. Is there a link somewhere for what is allowed?

The short version of what he's got
Head/Cam LS1
Supercharger
NX Nitrous system disconected
Long Tube headers - not sure about cats
Borla cat-back (same one I've got on my car)

He should be fine. But...it will depend on how loud he is. Now, here's the trick: There is a DB limit but if the inspection station does not have a certified sound chamber they are not allowed to enforce it using subjective means. I've heard that K-town is very lenient on this issue anyhow.

That's the big thing, he told me it was insanely loud now. I haven't seen it since we graduated, but based on what he's told me, It'd imagine that it'll be at least as loud as Val's car.

Val's car isn't loud but mine is twice as loud if not louder than Val's and I pass w/ out a fuss. Well most of the times. :) He should be alright. Worse case just stuff some steel wool in the pipe to muffle the sound.

Mine is loud and it passed no problem. The only issue I had was trying to get the inspector out of the car. He wanted to take it on a test drive.

I passed inspection with the SLP Loudmouth on my 1999 C5. It''l be good to see another vette running around. I am actually looking at getting a Procharger D1SC supercharger kit for my vette.
