Post subject:  The story of my life

As some of you know I had a rebuild not less than 2 yrs ago. Only logged maybe 1000 miles on it since I had numerous issues (pistons istalled backwards etc) after picking it up from this shop in Sembach.
Well it developed a oil control problem shortly after a quick 80mph sprint. So to make sure I wasn't tripping I bought a mechanical oil pressure guage to compare w/ the OEM guage and they both read correctly...ie fluctuating @ idle losing psi under load etc.

Well this past wkend I finally got the engine out and tore down. Now I've drained the oil and changed the oil 5 times w/ different grades to no avail. Well after dropping the oil pan and draining it this is what I found at the bottom of the pain. My camera isn't the best in terms of resolution but you get a real good idea. Upon further inspection the bearings I gave the shop were not the ones I delivered to them...second the pistons they allegedly ordered weren't ordered and they reused 4 of my old ones and I won't even talk about the crank. :( It can be fixed but it's going to have to be polished and taken down .020 and then maybe oversize bearings will have to be used. The only good thing they did was mill the heads and fix the damage to the combustion chamber perfect.

The cylinders were scratched so a hone job is needed. I didn't take pics of the block or crank but will later this wk.

Can anyone say shrapnel in a major way?

Luckily for me with this new engine I WILL NOT have this problem for obvious reasons. One a friend of mine has been by his shop several times to keep me updated on the progress and witnessed the dyno the other day so I feel good about that. 2nd I'm putting a accusump so if it even thinks about having a oil problem the sump will kick in a nano second and 3rd my custom pan has more freaking safe guards than the law will allow. :D

Can you go through JAG and sue the place for not using what they were paid to use?

Everytime I have tried to use them, the JAG won't deal with off base issues....I would definately seek a private lawyer and get any advise the JAG may give.

Either burn down their shop, or roll in there with a ski mask and a baseball bat.
Dude, that would make me so mad! I'm make sure he suffered. I'd make sure his kids suffered. That is WAY too much money to be screwing around with

Knowing that I didn't pay him a dime is satisfaction enough for me right now. I just learned a lesson. Do it yourself or stand there and watch the whole process from start to finish asking A LOT of questions.

It's all good. It wasn't a total wash as the whole engine is basically sold. I'll hold on to the block rods and crank until I find a buyer. The rods may already be sold so that's a plus.

Please post the shop name so that we can make sure no one else makes the same mistake. Sorry and that really has to suck.

It's off of B40 and his name is Dieter. You'll know it when you see it as it's fenced in and has a glass office w/ a big block chevy in the window and a whole bunch of cars out in the pasture.

Wasn't that the same shop that forgot to refill Jack's transmission?
