Post subject:  In Wed's Bild - 100€ Vignette for Germany's Autobahns

Read a short story in the Bild on Wed that said that Germany is considering a 100€ Autobahn Vignette like in Switzerland.

In exchange the gov't said it would be willing to drop the taxes at the gas pump. I would pay the 100€ tax but I'm sure that the uproar from the American community would be pretty damn loud. I wonder if USAREUR would lobby to try and get exemption for the US vehicles...

I would imagine that it would have been easier to do with the old NATO plates...but the new city plate's we're being issued is going to make that very difficult (in my eyes)

If it reduces traffic on Germany's autobahns...I'm all for it.

Question is how much they would reduce taxes at the pump ... also, I recon US personell will probably get their stickers free ...

Plus, if it's Bild, the article is worth about as much as the paper is to wipe your butt with...
