Just wondering how much $$ and land would it take to rebuild the infamous Green Monster back in the US? Reason I ask is because it has crossed my mind plenty of times that that would be something I'd want to do if I ever came across enough funding to get it done. I'd have it almost set up the exact same way in terms of fee's ect if it were allowed as I know the US has stricter laws concerning racing etc.

Figure a good conversation piece if anything. :D

IF you could get past all the legal stuff and get permission to do it and came up with the millions it would take, it would still not be the same. They'd have to make it as a modern, safe, smooth track, which would be a lot of fun, but not the same

there are at least 2 replicas of the karusel in the states

I'd make it private and screw the permission. :o

this is a track being built outside Atlanta. two 2.5 mile tracks could be combined in to one 5 mile track. Before they start building, they've got to sell 200 charter memberships at $50K each. That's $10 million. Figure a little less than double that about for another 8 miles, so $16-$17 million. Then add in close to 1000' in elevation changes which would probably more than double the cost. I'd say $30-$40 million if nothing went wrong and you already owned the land.

The crazy thing is - in the US, this would actually be doable, given the appropriate amount of money ... in Germany, it would utterly impossible to build anything like it nowadays, much less get permissions to do racing on it ...

Keith where did you get the 1000 elevation changes from?

well, 984' It's on the internet, so it must be true

320m at it's deepest point
620m at it's highest point

620m-320m=300m=984 feet

Can I have the tow-truck / bodyshop repair concession at your track?
(Rumour has it that Americans don't go around corners very well)

how much slower were you than me the last time you made it out to Bitburg? Which GT1 team has 5 of the last 6 class wins @ Le Mans? Didn't the Vipers pretty much dominate their class before Corvette took over? Where was the last non-factory team to win Le Mans from (in an Audi, I'll give you that)? Why are 2-3 year old American cars still winning in FIA GT1?

I'm going to eat these words when 2slow shows up in an R8 next month

Ok, I admit that a Corvette won LM-GT1 class at Le Mans, piloted by those famous American drivers Jan Magnussen, Oliver Beretta and Oliver Gavin (from the USA states of Denmark, Monaco and England) . Second Corvette piloted by some more famous American drivers Max Papis and Ron Fellows (from the USA states of Italy and Canada) .
Looks like I have to retract my words. Americans are Le Mans winning class drivers.

Can I still have the tow-truck / bodyshop repair concession at the track?

So to be on the safe side a cool 100 mil. When I come across that much I'll build it and make it private. :D

Keith I thought you were referencing that new track not the Nordschleife.

BTW, silver SRT-4 crashed in his 1st lap last Thursday in Hockenheim. Anyone we know from Bitburg maybe? Didn't read anything about it on srtforums.com

After the crash he kept driving to the next corner and pulled in the pit lane from there. Thanks for the video, I was wondering where he damaged his RIGHT side of the car, now I know...
