I'm ordering it tomorrow, so I would like to hear some input from you guys, who are more experienced than I. I am thinking of going with the McLeod twin disk, but I'm not set on that yet.

The best that I heard is out there now is the SPEC... The McCloed requires shims and is a pain in the arse from what I read. If you order the spec stage II or III you will not be outpowering them for awhile. Either way buy what you feel comfortable with.. When it is my time I am going with the SPEC Stage III. Just my $.02

George, they recommend upgrading to the Mcleod revised master cylinder, and the aluminum flywheel. What do you think??

Hey Jack, I have a stage III on the way. It is what I would recomend. It can handle 680 rwhp. I caught it (by luck of god) under a group purchase for $470 shipped!!

Don't get either...the Spec (Star) is giving out really easy and people are having a real tough time getting ANY customer service Look Here

The McLeod is way too expensive and people are having lots of problems with them too and their customer service sux REALLY bad!!!

I would get the Cartek clutch. I've dealt with these guys on my heads and cam, and they are top notch. I've heard nothing but good stuff about the Cartek clutch...it's what I'll be getting soon.

Hearing good things. I have heard nothing but good things about SPEC clutches. It's all a matter of perspective and personal experience, because 2nd hand experience is always biased. One person can have an exellent experience while someone else has a total "He said POOP" experience with the same product.

Read the thread that I posted a link to. Also do a search on LS1.com for clutches in the Drivetrain section. A lot of people are very unhappy with the Spec clutches and their customer service.

Already read it and got on a group purchase after the fact through LS1speed. May be different between the LS1 and LT1 engines. Mines an LT1.

I believe breaking the clutch in right has something to do with it. I dogged my centerforce without breaking it in right.

Could be the difference (LT1 vs LS1)

I don't think that breaking it in has much to do with crappy customer service. It just seems odd that so many people are unhappy with their LS1 clutches from Spec.

Those cars were pushing some serious power when they're clutch let go. But, on a side note, anyone who has had

Put it this way...the 2 LS1 powerhouses (ARE and MTI) highly discourage using Spec clutches. MTI recommends McLeod and ARE recommends Cartek.

Whether you have 300 RWHP or 500 RWHP I wouldn't buy a product from a manufacturer or vendor that is known for crappy customer support (Auburn Performance Equipment, Muscle Motorsports, etc.)

It's not worth the risk of having a problem and not getting the support you need.

The Star clutch may have a great LT1 set-up (I haven't been following the LT1s much anymore), but I've seen too many horror stories by LS1 owners for them to get my business.

spec SUCK'S on LS1's its a fact too many are facing. Now they rock on LT1's for the most part. Mcleod on a LS1 same
thing but the new master cylinder is awesome for....you guessed and Lt1. Cartek has been the only one successful besides the Z06 setup. But there are stories flyin around
that they are little funny too........for some people.

Jack you can't go wrong with the stock setup 215$ plus shipping to the door and you get flywheel, disk and pressure plate. It maybe a little more now. Plus it is the same set up as in the current Z06.

Thanks for all the input. I'm not going with OEM, 'cause if I'm planning to buy go fast goodies, it wouldn't make sense. :D
