Well as much as I might of liked to of kept it Big Blue was sold yesterday for $6500. Not too bad for a 1997 truck with 125,000mi on it. I will now be driving the T/A  until late summer 2007 and then look at either the Challenger :D or SRT10 truck  . Now I have to start thinking about a project car for my son's 16th B-day.....any suggestions

A challenger or srt 10 what about the camaro? As far as a project for your son 3rd gen's are cheap or a V-8 S-10 I had one of those before I bought my 98.

The SRT10 is my first choice (I love sport trucks), Challenger is supposed to get the 6.4lt hemi 500hp w/6speed(late 07). I'll have to see it first before I make my decision. The Camaro is nice but I won't wait until late 08 for it unless..........they bring back the Trans Am (I've always had the Firechicken/ TAs).

I was actually kicking around the idea of giving my son my 01 WS6. I do like the V8 S10 idea  Have been looking at the 3rd gens too.... I still got a few more years.

There is also the vette I just want to stick with GM Well as long as they are around anyway. 500 hp challenger? Chevy is getting the pressure to put the LS7 in the camaro or something better between the challenger o and gt500 they need something that for sure.

Silas you know that selling the T/A is NOT going to happen...it'll stay in the family! Both the 73 Firebird & 01 T/A are willed to my son :D .

I hear you about staying with GM but they don't have anything reasonably priced to offer. The SRT10 is just straight up BAD ASS pure manly truck! I've always like the look of all the old Cuda's but want to see the new one in person. The 6.4ltr Hemi is currently in development and is supposed to be 500hp, slated for the Challenger.....I guess we'll see if it's true.

I'm going to come from a different angle:
Buy him a Miata and teach him to drive real SMOOOOOTH...., that way he will be a far better driver once he get his hands on a powerful car.
If you start out with a V8 you will only learn to cover up your deficiencies by stepping on the throttle.

well, if you're going for little underpowered chick cars, why not go all the way and get him an Audi TT or a Porsche Boxer
--------------------------------------------------------------
God help me, I'm turning into my parents, but I actually agree with 2slow, I'd be dead or in jail now if I had my car at 16 (dumb luck I still didn't end up that way at 21). Get him in a 98-~00 Miata, set it up for C-Stock and race it in the ground.

Stef, you make a good point. Not too much power but will make for great learning curve.

Just found out that there is an Scca auto-x event run every couple of weeks 20miles from the house. I guess I know what I'll be doing all the time. They also do a Double cross event.......not sure exactly what it is but it sounds like they set up to 2 courses and 2 cars run against each other fastest wins. Still trying to find out exactly what it is. They also run the F500 cars there....yes I've already been looking at some used ones.

I guess I got lucky, auto-x cross 20miles away, drag racing 20miles away, road atlanta 20mins away.......talk about practicing for KotH!!

Screw a miata man he could still get a v-8 and learn how to drive 3rd gen's are not fast or a V-6 f-body, Or a fiero after he learns how the drive put a LS1 in it. I heard with a bolt on ls1 they can run 11's.

Val,
What you're describing sounds like pro-solo. 2 courses mirror each other and you're started by a christmas tree.

It is but the SoloAtlanta website is calling it a "DoubleCross". Pretty interesting, prize $$ and other goodies. 128 drivers can enter. I'm still trying to figure exactly where my car will fall in as far as classification. With all the mods that I've done it's going to put me up there in class. I also will have to change my exhaust in order to run at the fairgrounds, 96dbi max. Looks like a factory muffler and qtp cutout should quite it down some. If I can find a shifter cart Nikolas can actually start racing this year!

I've looked at some of the Fiero V6s, selling around $2500. Not too sure if I want all the problems that they are know for having!! Still got time to look around......few years.

Yeah, Fiero's nice, drive it for a while with the 6er, then drop an LS1 into it's rear :)

I think Stef's idea with the Miata would be pretty cheap, then stick an LS1 in that!
