I've been thinking about this for awhile and still am stumped to a certain degree.....so maybe someone else can give me a logical explanation to my question.

Mass produce vehicles and ECU programming in a nutshell. No 2 engines are alike even if built to the exact same spec's or tolerances YET once they leave the assembly line they all perform the same w/ slight variances undectable to the average consumer.

My engine was built to exacts spec and was a carbon copy of the original...blue printed, balanced and all. I even have a copy of his tune! So in theory my car should run but yet again no 2 engines are alike right?

So for all of you reading this my query is will it work and will it work to the level of degree where no tweaking is needed?

Maybe, it depends.

The stock PCM uses the MAF at upper RPM and O2 sensors most of the time. Between these 2 items they control fueling. The spark maps are the same across the model range.
So assuming your o2 sensors are good and you havnt messed with your MAF it will read close to everyone else and fuel "close" to everyone else.
Thats why you dont need to tweek as the o2 handles lower rpm and maf higher rpm.

However... you can always get more power by tuning it properly. Timing is out from stock as is wide open throttle fueling. Fix those and you gain a good bit of power.

I think this is a case of "How good is good enough?"

stock - close enough for the average joe
your engine - pretty darn near dead on
the engine you copied - as good as it's going to get.
