Do we have this "if you want to register type these letters"-feature on this board?

can you do something where they register and confirm it with an e-mail. Won't stop it, but it would at least slow it down some

The forum already does the email thing, which means about 2/3-3/4 are not released for usage ... still, a lot of the spam accounts are activated, so the email addresses exist (at least for a short time)
As for the captcha stuff, I tried to get it working with the old forum version used here, but somehow the code's a bit messed up with all the addons I've included, so I can't really get it to work ... anyway, I added it on the 1on1 forum, and it didn't help much either ... only got it cut down when I added the "vip" code that required a person wanting to sign up to go back to the main homepage and look for the VIP code ...

So how do they do it, it's robots that register right? How do they figure out the letters/numbers to type. OCR yes, but those letters are distorted...?
