Post subject:  Taxes, Customs fees... Selling my car.
I've seen a couple posts from people who have converted US spec cars to pass TUV, but no mention of the sales taxes or customs fees...

I'm selling my 2005 SRT-4 and am curious what associated costs are going to be for any potential German buyer.

Is there a huge sales tax tacked onto the price of the car?

What about customs fees?

If any of you that have experience with this would give me some "pearls of wisdom" I would appreciate it.

Car runs 12% Import Tax/Customs IIRC plus the obligatory 19% VAT ... taxes/customs are calculated based on the sales price of the car ;) (not going to elaborate on that any further)
Trucks are "slightly" more expensive in customs, ask Silke :evil: I think they are upward of 20% or so ...

FYI when you sell the car it is not YOUR problem with customs, taxes and TuV, that is all the BUYERS problems not yours. Do not let anyone tell you differently. I have sold many cars to HN people as well as purchase from HN.

I just want to be able to let them know what they are up against, just in case. I'm going to go ahead and get an estimate on the conversion stuff for TUV so I can let any potential buyer know that as well.

The customs office just told me that it is 11% import tax and 19% VAT for a total of 30%.

no, it is 10% + 19 %. I just paid it on last monday!
