Post subject:  Car is in trouble.

Yesterday, I was driving to the shoppette, near my place of duty, and I ran out of gas.

-little history-((When I replaced the gauges last week with the white ones, I had to remove/repladce the needles. Apparently, they were a bit off, so I thought I had enough gas to get back to work, and then to get home to the gas station in Vogelweh, but I didn't.))

Anyway, a guy in a '92 5.0 gave me a ride to the Esso (embarrassing :) ) to get gas. I put about 5 liters in, but it still wouldn't start. At the same time, the battery was getting low, so I attempted to jump start it, but it still wouldn't start. At this point, I called ADAC, and waited about 3 1/2 hours for him to show up. It took so long becaust the dumb person on the phone took down the wrong instructions/directions. He tried a few different things, but to no avail, so his conclusion was that somehow we fried the computer by trying to jumpstart it.... :(

I will be going to Aafes today, to talk to them. Hopefully, they'll treat me better than the Opel dealer, and maybe I'll find out what the deal is. I have a feeling I won't make the races though!! :(

Jack that really sucks. However I ran my old 98 Z28 out of fuel, and fried the fuel pump it is lubercated by the gas in the tank. I tell you this because it sounds like your problem.

I know if you run it totally out of fuel there will be air in the lines. You will have to crack the line on the fuel rail to get all of the air out of them.

I agree with Bruce, the pumps can fry quick. I ran out of gas with my 95 and did not fry the pump, but I think they are different.

I hope it does not mean you need another engine Jack...:)

LOL, me too, because it would take forever to get here. I think I would have them order the LS6, and pay the difference.... :)

I'm sure that won't be the case, though...

Jack have you tried to put a few more litres in the car and tried it since ADAC came. Also you wouldn't be privy to a fuel pressure to tap in to the fuel rail to see if you got pressure?

Roy, I just figured 10 liters was enough, and it was almost at 1/4 tank.

When will you know something? I need your advice I really like my car and have a buyer and prepared to order a 02 A4 is the only difference and the new hawk is 345hp to start out with. I will do the same thing to that one and end up 1 sec quicker. It would be easy to put NOS on a A4 and do the same?

Post subject:  hey

I hope that the fbodyeurope down club isn't catchy. It seem almost like when one member gets there car up another members car goes down. I know how much it sucks not having your car up and running. If I where you I would try a few of the ideas that the people on the board said. There were alot of good ideas and cheap fixes.

However there is one idea that has not been mentioned which could very well be your problem. When your tank goes extremely dry all of the dirt and debris in your fuel tank go straigt into your fuel filter. It's cheap and may fix your problem.

If you do have to purge your system and you need the release clips for the fuel lines let me know and you can use mine (thats if there the same for the LS1 as they are for the LT1) Good luck

Yes, Jack I have read a few posts on other boards that say you will need to remove the fuel line at the rails(The clips Ryan is referring to) and crank the car until you get it to push fuel out the hose. Then reconnect the hose and start the car. If you crack the line and get no fuel when cranking it is either your filter or pump. Replace then in that order. I am off Friday and Saturday, give me a call for some help...

Post subject:  I agree

They had my wifes car for two days. And all they did was change two tires and give it a front end alignment.

I think Ryan is right. But it seems that once the car is back and running, it is better than before. Sorry about the luck Jack, I can sympathaze.
