Hey all, Ok, so I've got a 2001 LS1/T56 sitting back in the states (Alabama to be exact) along with a slew of conversion parts (subframe, driveshaft, cooling system, fuel system, intake, headers, exhaust, etc.) that I need to get shipped over here to me in Stuttgart. What are my options? Has anyone got any good contacts with international shippers? I tried a quote from BAX Global, and for a roughly 700lb. crate (84"x48"x48"), they wanted to charge a hair under $2k (USD). I could probably pay that, but I'm looking for any other "deals" out there. Granted, I'd like to get this stuff before the summer, and in good condition too. No fork-lift drag races, etc. I'd also like the opportunity to have it delivered right to my house, 30km south of Stuttgart. Oh yeah, I'm the guy doing the V8 conversion in my 1993 RX-7. Thanks!!! -Kent |

I am positive others will help with the shipping options, but I am positive it will be much cheaper to have it shipped into Frankfurt. Then you would just have to take it from there. |

Surface freight is about 600 USD . I had a little heavier crate it had an LT1 with 2 six speeds, cradle and driveline. Took about six weeks to make Bremerhaven. |

Roy - Who did you use to ship your crate? I'd really like to get a door-to-door service so I don't have to worry about anything. Thanks! |

I used this guy to ship my hood, he knows how to take care of getting big things here in germany from the states. I shipped my carbon fiber hood for about $400 and another $80 or so for inland shipping. Motor City mold shipped it directly to the delivery point in the states (new york) and then off to germany. You will need to take care of any taxes, customs and fees if necessary. Bob Harris can tell you what you need to do to make it happen. A couple of others in the vette club have shipped engines, hoods and other things this way. FYI A 20' Container should run you about 1500-1800 euros door to door. |

Contact a container shipping company. A big local one here is Frankenbach. |

I used BAX. It wasnt that heavy, they shiped my talpipes from Gardner exhaust. I went over to Customs, got the paperwork, took it up to F-Furt, went into Zoll office cleared them and got my pipes. Cost me a whopping 120.00 bucks. |
