well, with my block spread out over most of the workshop right now, it turns out there's only minor internal wear & tear, couple of small replacement parts are needed ...

Anyway, cylinder 8 plug looked like it was burning oil ... on closer inspection, it turns out the piston was missing one of the rings :wtf: Also, the pieces that hold down the crankshaft are number - 1 through 5. Well, mine's counted 1-2-2-4-5 ...

Oh well ... work's progressing, so that's good ... got most of the more or less rusted parts cleaned, primered and painted yesterday and today ... might post some pics later ...

Dunno ... from how it looked, the mechanic didn't think it had been apart before ... oh well, got a new set on the way ... it'll be better than new by the time it's back together (hopefully)

i had something simular, i bought a new factory engine from gm and one of the crank bearings was just not installed :bash:

Not anything tragic, it just kept trickling oil into the cylinder ...
