I have a sweet setup I am trying to purchase from someone stateside. I have always heard BAX Global will ship to Frankfurt and contacted them. I am being told they will not ship personal shipments and will only ship from businesses. Is there a way around this when purchasing from an individual? I need to get this worked out fast to get this deal. Are there any other company options?

Haha! LOL!!!

I got a quote from DHL. I guestimated a shipping size of 800 LBS (LS1 longblock with a few extras) and dimensions of 36x36x36. They can ship it to me without insurance at the measly rate of $6389!!!!!

Get on Mighty Brian. Look up Gene Evans. It's the only way to do it private. Have it shipped to him (he's a business that does shipping for all mighty members) and then he'll ship it to frankfurt via Bax Global. Granted it'll cost ya a little more bread in the end but that's the only way. I had to do my engine last yr that way.

Yeap, Rick at GEF to be specific, tell him Trevor sent your from Mighty, either me or Ana sent you but Ana is more on a first name basis with him. He will hook you up, and if you act fast, he is shipping out a T-56 for Bear off of Mighty next week ,could have it here in the next two to three weeks if you act fast man:)

Good luck, when do you get back man, want to get that engine out before I leave:)

Oh, and SRZ, update your location, your no longer in Germany:( I'm out in 22 days:)

I have had good luck with Luthansa Cargo. I shipped a box 2X bigger than a engine crate and it was at LAX in 19 hours. Also about a 80lb box and was like $90.

Brian,

Interglobal shipping. They have done their part but they use a sub contracting shipping company in the US to handle the US portion and that's where the snafu is. I'm still holding Interglobal responsible though as it starts with them. Maybe tomorrow I'll have better news but I don't believe so. The story changes and gets worse each day.

Screw the ZR1. I want my check! I'll build me another one for 1/2 the cost it took to build this one and use the remaining for a fatter down payment on a house. The rental we moved into is too small. 1800 sq ft and we DON'T have ANYTHING in terms of furniture...just the basics. 2300-2500 is what we need. This place feels like a 3 bedroom apt. But for 1400 bucks I guess I shouldn't complain. IF I can get that lady to come down another 20K I'm buying because I can't deal w/ this mouse trap.

Yeah....our luck isn't luck it's more like a curse.

Haha,

I'm actually already pissed at Interglobal, they are kinda screwing me, they kept telling me they had a date before the end of the month, then I get this email today:

Dear Mr. Vander,

the next available vessel is MV“CETHEUS LEADER“ with aprr. sailing date 28.07.08

with appr. eta. 08.08.08 Jacksonville.

I leave Germany on the 25th...

I'm picking mine up at the port so I don't mind them taking it still, but this pisses me off cause now I have to get a damn rental car for the road trip:( And I put the back seat back in the car to not have to do this...

Trevor,

I talked w/ Interglobal just a minute ago and they're back peddling. Basically saying they're not responsible. What? I told them I paid you and no one else so you are responsible for the well being and delivery of my vehicle. I don't care if once it's in the states your side is done...you set up the entire process DOOR TO DOOR. You are responsible!

The US carrier on this side can't even tell me if it left the port even though they can tell me it cleared the customs port. Just got an email saying if they can't contact the compay who was in charge of picking it up they'll be contacting the police. If it comes to that PHUG that....I don't want my car. Give me my check. There may not be a single scratch or damage to the car but to me it's considered gone. I can't believe this chit.

Dam dude/ I was literally up all night for you. I couldn't sleep until 6 this morning! I think I would go ahead and get the police involved now. as both companies have said it is lost. That way atleast the process is rolling. Then atleast talk to a base lawyer. Of course, with costs this high an offbase one would obviously be better AND is readily available for you.

I'd consider the place you paid being responsible ... after all, you have a contract with them, not their US side sub-contractors ... just tell them to get the car (in the same condition you shipped it) or start writing the check ... and tell them you have no problem haunting them with a horde of lawyers ;)

Holly "He said POOP" Silas. That sucks. I will make sure I do not use them at all to ship with. I really hope it all works out.

Garry, I agree. That's is how I look at it as well being interglobal's problem. Tomorrow if there are now updates the police will be notified. Supposedly though I supposed to have tomorrow morning but I highly doubt it...the last email I received from the carrier said they still haven't been able to confirm it left the port even though it's been cleared through customs.

I'm going to have a team of lawyers screw the base. I never really understood the pain and suffering thing as I always thought that was a crock of shite but now I clearly see differently. I'll be on every website that's military based that I can think of to let them know to not deal with them in the future.

More to follow.

600 more for shipping through Transglobal, but it gets there on the 1st of August so the road trip might just be in my car:)

More to come, dropping paperwork off tonight, busy as all hell now due to this little change, have to drop the car off by Friday now instead of next week...

Make sure you have this in writing! Clearing customs is what seems to be the hold up for some.
Just spoke w/ the trucking company and now it's supposed to be around 5pm today. How many times have I heard that. Chick had some crappy excuses to say the least but it is enroute now. I'm going over that motha w/ a fine toothe comb before I even sign the release papers. She's gonna be pissed but it's not remotely close as to how pissed I'm am right now.
