Just get one when you get here. That way you know you have the right data. Also, keep an eye out for them in the KA and S&S. They show up occasionally. I definately recommend getting one though. We call ours the marriage saver. All I have to do is listen to it and we are good to go.

TomTom seem to have decent road data, and good quality ... I've got their software on my PNA, and it works fine ... just make sure you get one that has english language on them, I reckon some cheap ones will only be German ... also, I guess it would make sense to make sure it's one you can get US road data for ... also works fine on mine, used it while on leave ... ;)

Oh yeah, good point. I would buy one on base here or from someone in the paper. Mine is a Navigon and it has been well worth it.

I also have a Navigon I've had for close to 4 years and I love it. You can get them on base. They also include the maps, but you may have to pay to activate the North America maps, depends on the model, so be sure to ask. It may cost you a few bucks, but you will probably save it in gas and frustration during the three years you are here.
